I considered naming this "For Kara"- but my older daughter gets a kick out of being in on the naming process- and she's moving this week so she hasn't had a chance to look at it yet.  It was definately inspired by your tree photo-  Thanks.

Thanks for commenting on my piece. I love your thoughts on it. It's actually crackle paste on canvas with collaged oriental papers, acrylic washes and the rock and wire were added last.

Thanks, Carlynne

The Giverny photos are almost too beautiful to be REAL.

Kara thanks for the comments; I am glad you are so intrigued by the photograph.  There are a lot of gray/green tones in the color version, which are not very appealing.  What is it like there if you add the sense of color vision?  Let’s see - picture a warm muggy day standing in dappled sunlight next to a beautiful water fall, that warm but cool sensation.  Another way to think about it is to envision standing just close enough to the water fall for a breeze from the falling water to cool you off.  And yes, that is the sun shining right on the falls, and you are correct, it was not where I was standing when I took the shot!  I won’t say if it was a cave or not, that might give too much away, you always need to leave a little to the imagination.
PS – we still have snow on the ground, but I’ll be in warmer places this week.
Regards,
Steve B.

hi kara

pepper pike is 20 min. from my house.  my aunt lived there.

regarding anam turas, it is gaelic and it translates as soul journey.  it is a painting about life, family and loss.  yes, it's one of my favorites too.  it is 4' by 5' and currently (along with a few other pieces) in a womens exhibition at a local community college.
