Since I can remember, I have called myself an artist. At the ripe age of 38, I began to learn to paint in oils. I love it. I also sculpt and use other media (acrylics, etc. I have taken a few workshops and studied at a atelier for some time.

Life became recently HUGE and I stepped away from my art for awhile to concentrate on the big issues I faced..I am now back with gusto! Ready to learn and ready to create...

My studio is calling. I plan to create more portraits, and figurative art as well as branching into the semi-abstract. I will post more pictures as I go...

Peace, Painting, Artists, really green grass, painting in orange tones, reading, movies, politics (liberal),freedom of speech, how art can unify people, children's laughter, passion, how dogs can love unconditionally, running, marathons, honesty, positive attitudes, "sucking the marrow out of life"

People who have no opinions
War
insincerity
People who are constantly negative
Those who refuse to step "outside the box"

Website design, online retail work, reading art books, dogs, working out, running, marathons, my pets: Henry a sweeter than honey Basset Hound and Annie the darling Pug who must run everything.

Really nice work, fearless. I'm happy that you went back to the studio. I too was away for my studio for quite a while. A huge hole grows in a life when not creating art. I look forward to watching your progress.

Why does Michael/abiquii say you should sweep out your studio more often, in relation to Moo (which I, too, love)? I love what you do with color and shape, and how you play with the forms and yet still give me what I love about the animals in the paintings.

Hi Fearless. Good to meet you.  Thanks for the visit.

138 friends? I need to get out more.

Very nice. Your eyes are mesmerizing.  I am not hitting on you.  I'm referring to the work although you have friendly eyes too.  (LOL).  Seriously, even the eyes on your dog tell a story and draw a viewer in.  And your choice for  the background here is just stunning.  Cool stuff.  I'll visit later in hope of seeing more.

Thanks for the compliments on Katrina's portrait. She emailed me yesterday to let me know that it brought tears to her boyfriends eyes. He said it was the best birthday gift he had ever received and helped him feel closer to his deceased mother (of whom the portrait is). I just posted a new daily painting on my page. Let me know what you think and congrats on the new comfy red chair!

you are either a nite owl or an early bird....good morning... i have a question for the group .....or for just you ....how do you know when you are ready to leap from our "normal" line of work to be the "living" artist we desire to be?   i feel so ready with ideas and passion but ....afraid at the same time.   suggestions ideas thoughts

Great background picture.  I have two girls with red hair and blue eyes.  I love it.

I liked your canine experiment even though abstract art isn't my first love...one...you had great color and form, two...your dog has personality even though (interesting enough) you can't see it's face, and third and last, it's always good to work outside the norm once in awhile, just so that you give yourself a chance to discover "happy accidents" from your own hand.

You mentioned canine art in your latest blog - My art blog (http://jaredkelley.blogspot.com) was just visited by the popartist, Nathan Janes, who focuses on pet Pop Art. It's very humorous art but I think you'll enjoy looking at it. Let me know what you think - Jared
