I am a retired commercial Tuna/Crab boat captain. I have happily spent more time on the water than I have on land. I have painted the ocean all of my adult life and now that I have retired from a life at sea, I am painting full time out of my studio here in Montana. I also am an Official U.S. Coast Guard Artist. As well, I am president of the International Society of Marine Artists. I have been president for the last five years and enjoy working with our members from all over the world. If any of you would like more information about our society please visit our web site http://www.ismpart.com

The ocean, schooners, tallships, good art, good food, soft music, happy people and blue sky.

Grumpy people, loud music, rude language.

Tallships, ship modeling and wood working.

Thanks for adding me as a friend. I look forward to more postings in your gallery.  Our land is near Whitehall, about 60 miles west of Bozeman.  My son lives in Jackson Hole, Wy, and one daughter lives in Fort Collins, Co. Every time we're in the west we can't get over the appreciation of artwork and sculpture that is simply not as prevalent here in Maine.  I look forward to living in an area where art means more than going to Wal Mart and buying a print to put on the wall.  It's not that there aren't good artists here- it's simply an overall lower income level, or lack of understanding of the time that goes into an original piece of art, or a handmade item.   I will miss the ocean, but I would trade it for the mountains.

I agree that your time on the sea shows in your work. I too love the sea, and so admire your beautiful work.

You have a wonderful way with ships and water.  Many of your paintings are very peaceful - your time spent on the water shows in your work.

While you may find florals hard to do I would find the sea quite difficult and you've captured it beautifully in your ship pieces.

Thank you for responding to my "poll".. I actually agree with you and do not think Ebay is the proper place to sell art but so many people I know keep telling me it would be a way to sell but I still have a problem with it!

Do you happen to know a marine artist by the name of Dimetrius Athas.. he is a friend of mine (lives in New England), your seascapes are amazing.

I enjoyed seeing your work. Nice to meet you and know you are not far away! Let me know if you're interested in attending the Sandpoint Plein Air Paintout this spring and I'll try to get you on the list for an invitation.

BTW, I'm finding that it is difficult to read comments and your profile on your page because of the medium color backgroud. If no one else has trouble, then just blame it on my old eyes and the computer!
