I have been producing artwork in various media for the better part of forty years, but it wasn’t until I had settled into a stable career as a registered nurse in 1983 that I was able to paint more seriously. Much of my inspiration came from watching my grandfather paint and sculpt early on in those 40 years. I purchased some “how to” books on art, took a few classes with some local talent and started painting with watercolors. Feeling somewhat confident, I entered an outdoor art festival and sold my first few watercolors which ignited my journey to what has developed into my current work.

I'm primarily self-taught through trial and error and from the numerous art books that line the bookshelves in my studio. I've also received additional instruction from Robert Hauschild, Lou Bonamarte, Christopher Zhang, and Gerry Caron at the Lyme Academy of fine Arts. My influence comes from such diverse artists such as Winslow Homer, Claude Monet, Ogden Pleissner, David Leffel and Richard Thomson. A more recent interest in Dutch and Flemish styles has diverted my comfort zone of watercolors to oils.

I have exhibited at the Mystic Seaport Maritime Gallery, Mystic Art Association, Guilford Handcraft Association, Pratt-Wright Gallery, Four Starr Frame Shoppe & Gallery, The Finer Line Gallery and the Gallery at Stonington Vineyard of which currently has one of my paintings on the label of a Cabernet Franc. I have also exhibited in the Mystic Outdoor Art Festival, Newport Outdoor Art Festival, Niantic Outdoor Art Festival, Glastonbury on the Green and the Noank Historical Society Artists Annual Summer Exhibition.

My subject matter includes florals, land/seascapes, boat and house portraits and fly fishing sporting scenes as well as portraits in oils and in watercolors and now still lifes. Much of my work is commissioned by both private and corporate customers.
Giclee prints of my earlier watercolors are available at the Finer Line Gallery and The Mystic Seaport Print and Frame Shop, both located in Mystic, CT.
I presently reside with my family in the beautiful seaside village of Noank, CT.

It's great to find someone who works realistically in oil! You've hit the special lighting of Dutch title spot on. I will surely be back to see more.

Wonderful work!  I find it very inspirational that you are self taught.

Your work is beautiful.  We share 2 things in common...well, actually 3.... art, the eastern seacoast and nursing.
