Hello, my name is Faith and I have always been interested in the arts, but have only recently discovered i can paint. My first painting was the one in my gallery called Riverpool i did in August of 07 and i still think it's my best yet. My cousin wanted me to paint him a river scene. I told him not to expect much because i have never painted before. To my surprise i was actually doing a good job. It was not easy in any way but considering how proud i was afterward and the fact that i can actually paint has turned me on to maybe the idea of a career in painting. All of the paintings in my gallery are just paintings i've done for family members. I am currently working on a new series of paintings that are a lot different from what i have done this past year. They will be more contemporary with a theme of nature. Oh one important fact i forgot to mention. All of my paintings are 2-D. Most all of the rocks in my paintings are raised from 3-10 centimeters. I think it gives it a little extra when the viewer sees part of the painting coming out at them. However that is one thing i find hard to capture when taking photos of my paintings.

Hi Faith,

Congratulations on your newly found talent.  I was the same way.  I picked up a paint brush just a few years ago and found out I could actually paint!  It's a great feeling, isn't it.  And your work is beautiful.  I hope your career takes off.   Josie

Hi Faith,

I saw your question on the "fearless" forum and wanted to come check out your work.  I think your more graphic work, "Spring Promises" and the Ladies in Red, is very strong.  Keep up the great ideas and the great painting.

Comment on my piece. Woodblock Split Tree Study

The piece is based on a contemporary woodblock print that I saw at an Library of Congress exhibition last year.  College Women's Association of Japan's (CWAJ) had this beautiful show that I got a lot of new ideas and color combinations. The show was called:  On the Cutting Edge
New Exhibition Celebrates Acquisition of Contemporary Japanese Prints. The piece that was the inspiration is called:
The Nest of Winds 2 (Foo Sou 2) by Hayashi, Takahiko. Thanks for your comments.
