I was born in northern California and transplanted to be raised in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas between two lakes and two rivers. I have traveled and lived many places while accompanying my military husband during his 20 active duty years in service to this country. During that time I have seen many museums, met with many fellow artists while raising our family and observing life.

I have a BSE in art education with a focus in drawing from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. I have attended workshops with portrait artist, John Elliot. I have taken classes at the Corcoran and VCU, where I am currently working towards a master’s of interdisplinary studies.
I have commissioned portrait of both human and animal in private collections.

I am an art instructor in a local Fairfax county school where I work with middle school students to encourage them to explore ways to express their thoughts in a visual format, which could be drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and clay or computer arts.

I have always called or thought of myself as an artist. It is almost as if I can hear the pencil or paintbrush calling to me. “You have to use this…you have to make this line or that stroke. Don’t fight this …you will not win. You must submit to the way that it is to be….JUST make the marks. The rest will follow. It has to be done and ONLY you can do this one piece of work. …there , you see how it looks---you are now lost in the work…there is no other way out…give in…and let it happen…let go…CREATE.”

I would describe most of my work by saying it is full of “life’s little moments”.
Observing people and animals has always been enjoyable to me and visually expressing those tiny moments in time has been my area of focus.
It is the lovely, tender, giddy and sad moments that we live in life that tells who we are and how we are all connected with similar moments in our lives shared in this world.

good food, good wine ( or spirit of the day), good conversation with passion, everyday celebrations- taking pleasure in the little things of life, purring kitties, good friends, hugs and kisses, to lay in my love's arms, visiting with my children, humor and laughing, sunny days, warm moonlite nights, well the list could go on and on....etc. oh did i mention good coffee in the morning...i think my blood is half caffine. i almost forgot ...chocolate.

being a "kitchen" witch i love to cook....just wished my wand worked on that cleaning up thing better. reading... sewing...playing with animals...creating inviting interior spaces...walking or running in nature...gardening or at least trying too...

Thanks for the compliments.  School is going well.  We have spring break next week.  It is well deserved on the teachers and kids part.  We could all use a little space at this time!  :)

Hi There,

Wow...you do a little of everything, don't you? From large to tiny. Really beautiful use of the silver clay and delicate jewelry. Your paintings are lovely and insightful. Thanks for the nice comments on my work. I am currently doing a large mural that is really a challenge and I look forward to its completion. I will probably post it when I'm done.

What do you teach? Art? I assume. What level.  I think I may need to start teaching soon. Can't seem to keep up the ladder and scaffold thing too much longer. Ugh!...Judy

You are very good with fine detail...you must be patient? No?

Hey So you have a friend in Memphis now!  (or a new one, anyhow!)

I think it was you who said you went to College in Arkansas?

Thank you for the nice comment.  I think your students are luckier, having a teacher of your caliber while they are in Junior High!  My district has restricted students to only 9 weeks of art for grades 7 and 8.  And there are some students that will not even get the 9 weeks!

Keep up the good work and God bless the middle school teachers.  You have my utmost respect.
