I discovered mosaics about 4 years ago and have been utterly in love, swept up, and a-swoon (not a word, but should be) ever since!

Your mosaics are just incredible...DO you have a book, you need to make a book of your work?  Are you in shows?  Are you teaching?  I am amazed.

Thanks for the compliment on my painting "Clematis Purple"!  Your choice of wording made me smile.

Stay cool,

Ummm, though I admit I currently feel 108 years old (very long day), I can't quite figure out where you get the idea that I am 108 years old.

In the mean time: "As you wish."  No! No! I just remember what that meant in the movie and I can't use that one. Ummm:my favorite: "Life IS pain, princess.  Anyone who says different is trying to sell you something." OK.  Not my favorite. Perhaps my favorite is: "He's only mostly dead". Is this pathetic or what?  I told you, long winters.

I love Barbara Kingsolver and I did love John Irving until he had a political run in with public education in Vermont (apparantly, he doesn't believe in funding it.) I also love Princess Bride (my daughter has every line memorized) and Raising Arizona (my husband has every line memorized.  What can I say?  The winters are long and dark around here. )  I'll keep you posted on my mosaic efforts.

Hi Susan! Thank you so much for your encouragement.  Of course I have questions for you.  I am starting to do this slowly, buying up old bathroom tiles, coffee mugs and plates.  I want to mosaic (is that a verb?) the splashguard behind my sink and the wall behind my stove.  I'm worried about the actual weight of this sucker when it's all said and done, since the one behind my stove will probably be 4'x3'. What would be a fairly lightweight backing that could hold such a piece?  Thanks for your help and advice.  -M

Hey I just read your snippet about a website. I think your Flickr site is great for casually showing your work. It looks great and does the job. But honestly your work is so much better than a generic Flickr display. Give it the presentation it deserves. Put it on that pedestal!! There are a lot of options you can choose it just depends on what you think you might want. Check out www.wordpress.com. It's free. You can create multiple pages from templates that you can customize. Get your own .com name for only 10.00 a year. It doesn't get much easier than that.

I know someone else who opted to go with www.homestead.com. Looks like you can cutomize templates too. Their customer service will help you. They can expand with you. Costs start at 5.00 a month for a simple 5 page website.

Hope this helps. May the force be with you.
