I live in Wisconsin with my wife whom I adore, and have been with since the 7th grade. We have 16 grandkids Brady who is 4 was diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago, he recently figured out that not everyone goes through all the crap he has to.
I Started painting July 13th 2007 because I couldn't afford to buy art so I decided to make my own.
People tell me I wasted 40yrs playing the guitar
I should have been painting.
I am self taught never went to art school or took classes.
People tell me they like my work, maybe they don't know ART or just can't tell me the truth.
I could really use some critique so please feel free.I paint mostly from photos or memory but I like to use my imagination also.

I AM THINKING ABOUT DO AN ART FAIR IN JUNE BUT I DON'T KNOW IF i AM READY TO DO THAT.  NEED TO FIND MORE INFORMATION ON THAT SHOW AND WHAT THE COST IS AND HOW HARD IT IS TO GET EXCEPTED INTO IT.

I JUST DON'T KNOW IF I'M GOOD ENOUGH AT THIS POINT. I NEED TO GIVE IT MORE THOUGHT. I CAN'T BEGIN TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO SET UP, GET A SCREEN TENT OR A CAMP KITCHIN WOULD DO I GUESS MIGHT NOT BE THE TIME I WOULD HATE TO GET LAUGHED OUT OF THE SHOW BUT I COULD USE THE PRIZE MONEY, I KNOW I CAN'T GET THAT IF I DON'T ENTER, RIGHT?

Hi SkyArt,

Your work is very nice.  It has an atmospheric quality that is very appealing, somewhat soothing and peaceful.  Keep painting and having fun with it.  Heather Rippert

Thanks for your comments regarding the "misty" in my work. In short I jump files in various artware programs picking the tools I like best. It takes awhile to get use to-but worth it! David

I would love to see the painting you are working on that looks like the one you commented on.. that painting was in my head, not a real place.. does that mean we have done a mind meld thing without even knowing it?!!

Skyart,  Your work is very unique, interesting and a joy to see.  If it makes you happy to do it, then that is the most important thing  no matter what anybody thinks about it.  You couldn't possibly have wasted any time playing the guitar if you loved that when you did it!  Lots of artists have no formal training, and most artists never "make it" which is why it's critical in life to do what you love, be with whom you love.  I have a double major art degree, lots of training and talent, and I still have to have a "real job" to keep a roof over my head.  I LOVE drawing, it's not popular, and I don't care.  I think my work indicates that.  Your work also shows me that it's really you, and really worth it.  Keep at it!

Hello.  Your work is very nice!  I am especially drawn to "Colorado Moon" (It has good compositional balance & interest), "When The Sky Begins To Fall" (I like the huge sphere! - It's unexpected and so adds interest.), and "Untitled" (Bold use of color. - Very nice!).  Most of your work has a calm feeling to it and that is very pleasant; And the ones with something dramatic in them tend to draw me in the most.  Just keep doing what you're doing, trust yourself and follow your heart.  It may sound cliche, but it is rare that anyone truly does this.  I think you know what you're doing.  Keep on exploring.  Your art is great!

All the best,

Hey Sky!

I like your taste, i like your work and I like your politics. Knowing the Fox Valley, you must find yourself a little isolated at parties when discussion turns to elections.

I lived in the Peoples Republic of Madison for 7 years and in Wausau for 1.5, but I still like snow.  Always have.  I like the colors it brings to winter.  You don't look old enough to be a grandfather and I'm sorry for what Brady has to go through. Nothing sucks more than that. Have you given him a paintbrush?

Now I'm in the Peoples Republic of Vermont, which is what Wisconsin would be if you smooshed it together so that the prairie folded up into mountains.  We are a lot of French and British and I so miss that fabulous upper midwest sense of humor.  I will also miss your quarterback.  He always remembered that it was a game he was playing and that was truly refreshing.

I know you hate to read, so I'll cut this off.  Nice to meet you.

-Marcia

First I want you to know I wish for Brady that he is a strong little boy ( sounds like he is ) and will overcome this dreaded disease, our thought and prayers are with him.

I love your colors and your compositions. Keep up the good work, it is also very therapeudic for you .

Skyart, Neat paintings!  Your title reminds me a little bit of Peter Max!  Very trippy yet straightforward!  Cool stuff.
