I have an engineering background but have been painting full time for about 5 years. Unfortunately, I feel that I am learning things now that I should have learned a long time ago. Nevertheless, I am having a great time and am always looking to grow, looking for feedback, and looking for discussion with like minded individuals. My website is rfwyvill.com

What beautiful paintings! Your work is breathtaking. Are these large paintings? There is so much detail.

Great work, thanks.

Regarding your statement "Unfortunately,...learning things now that I should have learned a long time ago": After years of feeling that way and having felt I'd wasted many years, I recently had the revelation that I've finally come of an age where my mind is open enough to really learn. It's been very liberating as a painter to discover that I can learn, grow, paint better.

The fortunate part is to be learning Now, instead of Never. One doesn't see many youthful painting 'prodigies'; if an artist is good they seem to continue to get better as the years go by.

Hello Richard,

Thanks for visiting my site. I'm just beginning to find my way around Scuttlebutt and build my own gallery as and when time allows.

I like your work - it's real art. Also I can empathise with your comment about learning things now that you should have learned long ago.

Did you ever read Picasso's confession? If you can be bothered to copy the following into your browser, its at:

Great work! I really like the color and texture you acheive in your paintings. Do you use a palette knife?
