I've been painting for many years, through the challenges of raising a family and putting my son through college. My training with Hilary Holmes at the Art Students League of New York gave me the foundation of academic techniques that continue to serve me well. Even when I depart from them. Today I'm enjoying increased success and recognition as I continue to apply myself to be my personal best. There is so much to organize to succeed as a professional artist. It really requires many hats. I'm grateful for the support I have from my wife, and the gallery relationships that have newly formed. Through the Skylight Gallery in Keene Valley, NY I am thrilled to see my work associated with the 19th century artists who painted the Adirondacks. It's exciting to be threaded to the continuing history of American painting. My ambition and perpetual curiosity compel me to always seek a broader horizon. I teach as well, to adults, at the Farmington Valley Arts Center in Avon, CT. I will probably expand my teaching to include workshops and visiting artist residencies as my schedule allows. I'm enjoying this web site and the community I'm discovering through it. I've tended to exist outside the mainstream; I'm most at home in the sanity and sanctity of Nature. Most recently in my life is the emergence of my music playing. Together with painting I feel like I'm fully realizing my abilities and creative soul. Thanks to all for visiting my profile and commenting on my work!

being outside, the Adirondack Mountains, the Everglades, traveling with my wife, playing my guitar, writing/singing my own compositions, good company, solitude, long days for lots of work, continuing to learn about life everyday.

boredom, mediocrity, possessiveness, obliviousness to the needs of others and the home planet.

Sunday New York Times Crossword puzzle, lots of music - acoustic and electric guitar playing, kayaking, hiking, gardening.

The Coneflower is 12 x 16.  It was painted from my garden.  I used dark green in the background to make it pop.  Thanks.
