L’Andrae' Bradley’s art of ‘doodling’ has evolved from pen and ink into his favorite new medium-wax pastel. When L’Andrae’ was attending Ohio State University Lima Branch, he was influenced by his professor Ed Valentine to pursue a major in Fine Arts. L’Andrae’ transferred to the main campus in Columbus in 1997.

Experiencing challenges academically and financially, L’Andrae’s first few years in Columbus were anything but easy. When he wasn’t in school, L’Andrae’ would sometimes work two jobs to pay off debts. This caused him to re-evaluate himself as an artist and student. L’Andrae’s final attendance at Ohio State was the 2002-03 school year with an influence in sculpture. Even though he finished the academic year with a 3.2 Grade Point Average, his financial aid was completely exhausted.

Determined not to give up his art, L’Andrae’ started back to his pen and ink drawings. His first group exhibition was in March 2006, in downtown Columbus at the U.R.S Building in the Arena District. The wall space was under the supervision of Suzanne Byrd, who runs Gallery Art Leasing. One month later, two more pen and ink drawings were accepted at the 95th Annual Spring Juried Art Exhibition, sponsored by the Ohio Art League.

The two pen and ink drawings included in the Spring Juried Exhibition were from the first “Brazen #8” series. Influenced by hard driving music, this series is a pen and ink style consisting of bolder black lines and patterns, creating an intense, driven feeling.

This similar boldness evolved from his ‘mini-series’ created in 2005, “Daze of Blacks & Grays”. This series of six is on Rives BFK paper, is marked by the contrast and intensity of litho crayons and graphite used together.

After “Daze of Blacks & Grays” and “Brazen #8” series, L’Andrae’ discovered the wax pastel medium. Using the water-soluble material like a crayon, Bradley’s newest series, larger in size, build on his themes of brightness and surging energy.

Art, music, hanging out with friends, doing things that can help me become a better artist in the long run.

Get tired of hearing the stereotype quote "What you doing with art?"--AAARRRGH!! People who are blind with pride.

Listening to music. Walking around the neighborhood/campus area(while listening to music).

Yes, I definately have a thing about trees.  I have one more finished and another 80% done- look for more postings this week.  I really like detail, and it seems I have a thousand tree ideas in my head that I haven't had time to get onto paper.  I did purely pen and ink/no color for about 20 years. Lots of houses.  Now I'm trying to be less rigid,  and I've moved into flowing- hence trees and horses manes.  Thanks for visiting my site.

HA ha. I named it "Minimum Wage Job" because all it does is stand there all day and do nothing, so who would pay more than minimum wage for such a simple job  -note "face" in left side-  Thanks for visiting my site.

Your color choices continue to be vibrant and wonderful, but I think I see eyes! and possibly some life forms within the abstract shapes. Keep up the the exciting new works!

Thanks for checking out my lotus painting.. I was afraid to add florals to the gallery when I am mostly a landscape painter. I feel as if this gallery should reflect a cohesive body of work. Maybe I wont think that way anymore!
