I am a high school art teacher in Ohio. I am the product of Teachers. My grandfather was a life-long commercial and watercolor artist. He has and will always be a true inspiration. My art mentor, my high school art teacher, who encouraged me to be who I am today! Teaching students is my my calling. There is no better feeling knowing you've reached a youth. The success of a student determines the success of their teacher.
I am also a colored pencil artist. It is the medium I love, and cannot get enough of. While in college, I found a few books on colored pencil, needless to say I became hooked, and my journey began.

My works have been in National juried shows in Chicago, Illinois and Bethesda, Maryland as well as a few local shows in Ohio.

Drawing, Fishing, Golfing, Music, and hanging with my wife

HiKevin- Your gallery is very cool!-no wonder you are a teacher! I love to here when others give back the gifts that they have.   Cold?  I am freezing here in MN we have had a very cold winter.  I guess that is good because it forces all us to stay in our studio's.  Very nice work!   Ta Ta for now-  Deb

Kevin,  Thanks for the nice comments on my painting.  I've done some colored pencil and your work is great.  I liked the way you could start and stop without any cleanup but I got frustrated with the time it took to cover the surface.  The color layering experience is invaluable though and has helped in my painting.  I also enjoyed airbrushing - have you ever given it a try?

Hi Kevin, yes, music is everything.  I go through one cd after another when I paint.  I end up associating songs with a lot of my work.  I'm glad you're developing the Gaze series.  I like the interplay of the subject and the background environment.  That's where I see the story.  Somehow tying all these strangers (?) together.

My "blogs" are not very personal, or updated for that matter.  I just copied my newsletter I send out to people and pasted it in case anyone wants to attend one of my shows, etc.  I need to write another one...  It's at the bottom of my priority list.

What grades do you teach?

Great to see your work!  Actually, Gaze 1 is my favorite.  It works very well compositionally, yet breaks all the rules I was taught in my early explorations.  A couple of years ago, I went to the national competition of the colored pencil society.  Great fun!  No question about the seriousness of those folks!

I very much appreciate the comments you offered when visiting my gallery.  A small amount of encouragement goes a very long way.  Also, I'm glad to hear that you enjoy your teaching work.  So many things work against true teaching in these times (No child left behind?)

I look forward to seeing your next drawing...

Thanks for the comments!  I really enjoyed viewing your work.  I like the Gaze series... I can see a story developing in them.  Do you have more of those?  Good taste in music, btw.

Hi! I know Brookville, I got married there. If you are as good a teacher as an artist then you are a hell of a teacher! Congratulations. I usually live in Dayton. I am planning on opening a gallery when I go back. I will keep you mind!

Hey Hey! This buckeye has also been cold lately. The weather in Oklahoma is so fickle this year; we have 60 degrees one day and 20 degrees with snow the next.
