I am a high school art teacher in Ohio. I am the product of Teachers. My grandfather was a life-long commercial and watercolor artist. He has and will always be a true inspiration. My art mentor, my high school art teacher, who encouraged me to be who I am today! Teaching students is my my calling. There is no better feeling knowing you've reached a youth. The success of a student determines the success of their teacher.
I am also a colored pencil artist. It is the medium I love, and cannot get enough of. While in college, I found a few books on colored pencil, needless to say I became hooked, and my journey began.

My works have been in National juried shows in Chicago, Illinois and Bethesda, Maryland as well as a few local shows in Ohio.

Drawing, Fishing, Golfing, Music, and hanging with my wife

Colored pencil is terrific, I agree. I'm now playing with different surfaces--pastel surfaces mainly, like Ampersand pastelboard and sanded papers. I've always like to work on the colored surfaces of Canson Mi-Tientes. Yes, I'm a CPSA member and had "Coke Break" and "Begin the Beguine" in the Nat. shows. Like you, I'd love to get my third one in this year. I'm going to Seattle for the convention anyway. Let's keep in touch. Good luck to you. Betty

Kevin.

Thanks for viewing my work. "A Graphite Wizard" Coming from an artist with your talent and background, great praise indeed. However, I don't consider myself a wizard, or even an apprentice wizard. More like a graphite hack actually. But I'll take Wizard and bask in the glow before it evaporates in the harsh light of reality.

Thanks again

Thanks Kevin. I just checked out your work. I love the quality of it. I don't know how you do this with colored pencils. It's wonderful. I'd love to see more.

Thank you for your comments!  It was nice to hear. :)

I absolutely love your painting of the sunflower! The detail is incredible.  I am trying to work my way through a painting right now of sunflowers.  Hopefully, I can do as good of job as you have.

hello and thank you for your comments.  yes, hopper is a painter whose work i've admired for a long time. it's good to see that you also keep up with your own work--as an art teacher.  it helps us stay connected to what the students are experiencing.   Nice work with the colored pencils!  It is a great medium to work in.
