Thanks for the comment on Awareness.  Actually sold that off my website to someone in Michigan last summer!  It was a nice surprise.

Ugh! For some reason the site is re-wording my comment! I typed that the Kabuki book has a wide variety of "s-t-y-l-e-s" but it keeps replacing that word with "titles"! How weird.

You asked what I liked about the "Kabuki" series...I really love the art, there is a wide variety of titles; from traditional black/white illustration to scanned color 3-d collage work. It is really stunning visually. Pair that with the very interesting story line, and one that is from a female perspective (which seems uncommon in comics). On the surface it appears to be about post-apocalyptic dystopia, but the story is really made up of the psychological struggles of the main character. A masked character who cannot come to terms with her ancestral identity, as well as struggling with her public, corporate identity. It's great! Now I want to read it again! :-)

Really nice work!

And thanks for your comments on my gallery. Angel is a combined photographic work. I like to mix mediums as you do, and yes, we do have a lot in common! I watched Across the universe only a few days ago and loved it. cheers, Lina

Wow, how funny about the name of your brother's cat! Can't believe I didn't remember this comic before, have you ever read David Mack's "Kabuki" series?

04/24/2008 13:30:31
Hi Jendria, Thanks for visiting my page! My cat in the pic (Kabuki) is gone four years now from cancer. I really miss him, we had a profound connection. His personality was very much like what you describe in the cat your brother had. Maybe its's a black/white spot on the nose trait? :-) I really like your work, especially the large flower paintings. They are beautiful and otherworldly. I'm a big fan of well-written comic books too, got any good recommendations?  Watchmen and V for Vendetta are two of my favorites.
