I am an artist from Owosso, Michigan. I make everything in my 100 year old, way too cool, used-to-be-a-Cheese-Factory studio.

Here you might find me twistin' iron with my coal-fired-forge or smashing up a mosaic something. I enjoy working with most any material. I tend to go cRaZY with one then move on to the next. I'm currently painting abstract and impressionistic pictures with acrylics and oils, both are
LOTS OF MESSY FUN!!

I also like to collect things along the way that catch my eye, both new and old, and turn them into some very cool artsy thing. With a never ending whirl of thoughts, who knows what'll be next?

Hi Jennifer,  Thanks for the comments on my painting "Back Street".  I don't paint with my fingers, but begin a painting with large brushes and add details at the end with a small cheap rigger type brush that I buy by the dozens at the Santa Fe Artisians when I am in New Mexico. I am in the process of creating a blog with a demo that is linked to my website. I really like your work and especially like Sunny Points. Are you are using wood and metal as materials? I see my own studio work in acrylic going in this direction. Great work. Great to have you as a friend. Roger

Hi Jen,   I think it was you who posted a free alternative to photo shop somwhere on this site.  I've seen it,  and now i wanted to go back and check it out and I can't find it.   If it was you who posted it,  could you please send me the link.  or post it again somewhere?  That would be awsome,  and thanks so much.

I do a watercolor painting, but also do a second smaller painting that I know is going to be cut up.. as the big painting progresses, I get a feel as to where I will want to layer in collage pieces. I always paint and create without a definte plan because my instincts get the job done. I sometimes use sharpee markers too, and then add paint spatters in the end to coordinate everything. Mostly the collaging adds depth but it has to flow.

I just added 2 of my watercolor collages to the gallery.. let me know what you think. I am having trouble sizing some of my painting photos which means I cant get them loaded into the gallery properly, maybe I will start a blog about that!

Gray is a neutral; I use it a lot.  Right now, I am playing with my web site to give it a face lift for the new year and employ some of the latest I have learned.  I am going to try white for background (that's what the "big boys" use) but am looking for accents and a new header that won't distract from the impact of my images.

The photo was taken last year when I had a show in a library gallery, its great space and I have lots more photos but I only posted the one. I have been doing more and more watercolor collages and when I post my next batch of new work in the gallery it will be some of my collages, more later..

Hey Jen! I finally got the family off to the ski hill and since my boots no longer fit and getting new ones will require a post-Christmas sale and a miracle check from the Christmas fairy in the form of a commission (I have one up my sleeve, so I'm optimistic) I get to spend the day on my own.  I had planned to pull prints all day and realized to my great dismay that all of my inks are frozen and corrupted.  Now I have to search all of Vermont for intaglio and litho inks or wait 5 days for Daniel Smith/Dick Blick to grace me with their shipment.  Arrgggh! Back to plan B, scrubbing the bathroom. How are you? I loved your blog! Your studio is a piece of art in itself and since art is the process, it's a rare gift that we get to see that.  Keep updating us on it, OK?  I find it really inspirational.

Yes I took a 5 day workshop with him in April of 07 and he totally changed the way I appoach my art and the process. I had a blast everyday and I would greatly encourage you to take one of his workshops. I can hardly wait until he returns to MN for a marketing workshop. I would take his workshops everday if I could. I learned so much from him and had so much fun. His energy level is amazing. And his work speaks for itself. I have taken several workshops, but non as entertaining, educational and full of GOOD STUFF than his. He truly cares about your work and you as an artist. I cannot say enough about him, except you have to take a workshop if you get the chance.

Oh Yes,  The sell, sell, sell is quite the challenge.  I am working on that, too.  I just turned "pro" 2 years ago- ha!  That sounds so funny- but, seriously, I am working on marketing more and more.  I'ts a real challenge and can be discouraging, but I love this job so much that I know I will just keep painting all of my life.  It's who I am.  I think you know what I mean.
