Dear Jennifer,

Thanks for all the comments you left on my paintings & photos. I appreciate that you have taken the time to look through them. Going to Africa is very inspiring for me and I concentrate on painting African wildlife now. I will be adding more information to the site but also have a personal site (www.NichollsWildlifeArt.com) where I have more paintings, photos & video clips from my recent trip. Time is against me at the moment as I'm painting for the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition in Charleston in mid-Feb at which I am exhibiting. Speaking of which, I'd better get off the computer and get going!

I was touched with your ironical comments. No doubt
you’ve got not so bad intuition. I have nothing with medical field but your
second shot was just in bull's eye. I used to write short stories and last year
published a book.

By the way when you pronounce the word ‘syncope’ in
Russian it sounds like ‘son of cop’. My father was never a policeman
nevertheless I like this funny double meaning of this nickname.

As for the angel that dares to seduce nice girls (especially
in pre-Christmas period) that’s really disgusting of him (of her better say). It
can spoil reputation of all Heavens

Hi Jen!

Questions on what I'm seeing in your gallery.  It looks as though you are sawing off about a third of one of your panels.   What surface were you painitng on?  It obviously can't be stretched canvas.  Is it braced masonite?  I ask because it looks like it's a couple of inches think.  How heavy was it? (I think that it is so cool.)

Alright, woman.  Tell me how to post an image on a blog.  I do the html coding and nothing happens.  What's the secret?  Eternal optimism?

BTW, I want you to know that I responded to your GREAT remarks about how to avoid cleaning the bathroom and (once again) never got it to post.  It's a little like my lithography, I think.  What I probably keep forgetting to do is hit the submit button.  I think I probably just hit enter and go onto my happy way.

Anyway, I was wondering if your "non-art" job is as an agent and motivator because you seem to be gifted at both endeavors. I LOVE your stuff and I love even more the process of how it got there.  I find it really inspiring and it's been a long time since I've been inspired.  Thanks!

I have to agree with Sandy about the Burridges.  I haven't been able to meet Kate, but if she is anything like Bob, they are very appoachable and extremely helpful to encourage you in your art/career.  Like I said previously, I would love to be able to take several workshops a year with him.  I just read the Sedona Arts workshop mailing and I noticed that they are doing a workshop there this year, and also planning on a trip to Italy in 2009.  Wouldn't that be fun to do??

Just check out his workshop schedule on his website and see what you can do.  You will never be the same and you will never paint the same!

Hope you are doing well. I am trying to paint and get some studio things done while juggling the Holiday madness.  It is finally warm (30's) here in MN and I am so grateful.  The extreme cold is not fun for me. The dog is outside and doesn't want to come in and I may take her for a long walk in the woods today.  It is beautiful and the snow makes things quiet and peaceful. I'll check back to you later. It's a good day today!

Hi Jen,  Don't worry about the Burridge's...they are real people and love having friends.  Kate I believe answers most of the email, and they are extremely active on many levels of art.  They also travel a lot and teach a lot.  Plus they are grandparents!  I'm sure you will eventually hear something from them.  I hope you signed up for his Artsy Fartsy newsletter (it's online) it's very very good!  I swear he is the best art teacher!!!  I've only had one other one (beside my first one) that has opened me up to art in the way Bob has. He is unique.  I hope you are having a great week and staying warm!!! Hi Jennifer, and thanks for visiting my site. I will try to answer your questions about the unusual and different title of my intaglio prints. I would agree that my work is very unique. After teaching printmaking on the collegiate level for almost 30 years, I have found that it is one of the least understood mediums available to artists. The reason I make prints is that I totally enjoy the marks made by a burin, a squeegee, a brayer, or even toner. These are marks that I can't make with a brush. I also enjoy making multiple originals (in a very indirect way) that can be marketed easily. My hand-pulled prints can be seen in numerous galleries all at the same time. I enjoy Rembrandt (inventor of intaglio) and use his image in my work quite alot. All of the work on my gallery site was made using a new non-toxic intaglio process that involves photopolymer films that are exposed to light and developed in plain old washing soda. I no longer etch my copper plates in acid but print from the development instead. Many of my prints are influenced by the Renaissance and are mostly about texture, design and composition. I have also been greatly influenced by Fred Otnes, one of the best illustrators I know of. Again, thanks for taking a look.  Cheers!
