To live life with intensity, passion, and expression; that is why I paint, re-creating and capturing a moment in time. I am inspired by the natural elements that surround us and recognize that we each see things in our own way. I use color and shape as a base for a creative viewing of the theme in my paintings rather than forming and contouring a realistic, photographic type image. The subject matter becomes an abstract expression, interpreting nature and transforming a landscape or still life into a sense of balance, wholeness, and symbolic realism. My most successful paintings draw the viewer into the place or feeling I have painted and a shared communication develops between us.

I find I am the most comfortable when I am surrounded by my artist friends.

I love trees. I love the mountains. I love painting landscapes.. I guess I'll paint just about anything depending on my mood. I believe on a certain level art is a form of individualized therapy.

A successful painting, or photograph, or sculpture, one that takes you to that place in your mind.

Oh that's how the gold star works!  Do you get a prize, too?  Like maybe a $1000 or so? HA!  Just wondering...  I love this site- I would be sad to see it go and I can hardly wait until they, (the powers that be) create more fun stuff to get involved with.  I just had a workshop with Robert Burridge- I am going to post my new stuff soon.  It has been cloudy here, so I am unable to photo artwork -don't like doing it inside..  Talk to you soon!    Hugs 2u

R,

CP does have a few spots, including Stowe, where I would like to go.  I can't print the app, since I am at the VSC this week, painting my brains out.   I have my fingers crossed for you to get the part time position at the college.  Elementary school (where I spent 14 years).  Drains the very well you need to paint, so go at that with caution... Try a little subbing if you can and get a feel for the 'etheric' drain.  Perhaps women have a gene to cope with recharging after all that mom-ing and nursing.

The fellowship is going well.  Tame crowd this time, I will have little distractions.  Getting on line is a challenge since I got suckered into trading my ibook for my son's itouch.  (e.i. typing with one finger that is way to big for the little touch screen!)

Saw one artist's work here so far, she brought everything she has painted in the last 5 years and had it so wildly shuffled she couldn't make heads nor tails of it. Since she asked for advise, I asked her to  pick 20 images and pin them up in a little exhibit for the others stopping by.  She was bambuzzled, so I asked her if she minded my sorting the work into phenomenological piles, which I did.  It was amazing to see the work fall into 4 neat catagories.  I enjoyed it and got a hint that I might really like teaching too, which would mean applying for an MFA.  So I am living with this, and the costs/benefits.

Meanwhile, she is whittling down the work now.  Also met another man from my town who teaches at Colby-Sawyer College.  He is a friend of a friend, and we had a nice chat over dinner.  He has work with a consultant in Hollywood and gets paintings in movies...a rental fee and tiny little royality checks.  He hasn't found a huge leap in sales due to it, but had to admit it was nice exposure.

So I guess this is my little "blog to you", T-F-Robin.  If I can hook my camera up to the center's machine, i will post a shot of new work somewhere.

greg

PS, I waiting to get a post that doesn't even mention the Black-Hole!

OK, I will let you know when I hear back from CP..Off to the VSC today, might be in a hole, black or rainbow we'll see.  I think there is a need for classes in my area, for a structure for people to have a creative experience.  I hope to hear this week about my enrollment.

Robin,

Have you heard of the "Craftproducers" Festivals, or ever shown in any of their venues?

I'm glad you got to urge to paint but, you tried to do an ugly self portrait???? Ok, please explain...

04/26/2008 23:30:10

Well, I did not sell it... I agreed to let BCA exhibit it through Aug. and "...be sold only at the listed price..."  I just got a letter and $70 check from AA Inc. "out of the blue".  So I have absolutely no idea how AA Inc. got my painting from BCA.  Perhaps they filched it?  Maybe I drove 4 hours, pulled the painting down, and brought it to the AA Inc. auction, and then forgot it.  (Jeezum crow I gotta research turpentine alternatives!)

Self portrait... some self reflection is good.  Are those blue tears?  So I am glad you're out of your phunk. About half my regular Butt head friends seem to be in some state of malcontent...  Could it be too much screen radiation?

The Grapes are sour in Rome anyway.  Have fun showing off with your birch trees.

Hey I sold a painting!  Some clouds have a silver lining, and other silver linings have dark holes!  The piece is supposed to be hanging in a corporate office building for $950, and it was apparently sold at another auction for $100, run by another group in Burlington.  I know I am forgetful, but luckily, I have a signed contract with the Sales $ and insurance.  I will let you know what comes of that!

OK,  luck.

Hi Robin, I am glad that you like my art.  Yours is really beautiful and honestly I don't know which I like best....great colors.  Mine are watercolors and a couple of acrylics...I am new to the acrylics.  What medium are you working with?  Great Work, can't wait to have some more time to really ponder some of your pieces.  Nature is most amazing is it not?!
