I am addicted to buying & reading Art History/Reference books. I love Ken Follett's work. I really enjoyed the Stephen King "Dark Tower" series and J.K. Rowlings' "Harry Potter" series.

ABOUT ME

For my day job I'm the Art Director at a television station in Las Vegas. It's great to get paid to do something I would be doing anyway...After my wife & kids go to bed at night I paint - often into the wee hours.

Recently my subject matter has been masks. I have a large collection of masks and decided to start creating "portraits" of them. Come see more of my work at www.donmichaeljr.com.

New Orleans is one of my favorite places and masks are such a big part of the culture & mystery there, so many of your paintings really bring that feeling back to me. You approach the subject matter in a unique way, too.

03/26/2008 08:52:26 Don, I love the masks! They are mysterious, sometimes scary, captivating, very cool work. If you like art books, have you read Jack White's books? If not go to www.senkarik.com and start with the 1st book, The Mystery of Making It. They are the best art books I have ever read. I would have rather had his books than 4 years of art college.
