I am currently working in Batik and love it.
visit my website at www.cataylor.com for more images

Batik is a lot of fun because it is somewhat unpredictable. I love the spontaneity and the colors!
I'd love to hear from other Batik artists out there!

Nature- a bright sunny day especially, but also a calm rainy day...color and contrast
I love the Ocean!

rudeness and selfishness
people who show no patience towards others and are quick to judge, call names or flip the gesture

poor presentation on an otherwise fine piece of art

art, art and more art
music, though I dont play
walking in the woods
snowshoeing

Hi Chris,  Thanks for visiting my gallery.  I like your work too.  Yes, I still use water mixable oils.   I began using them mainly because they're non toxic.  I've always used linseed oil as a medium and mixed them with traditional oils, since they will clean up pretty similar given the right amts of each.  The traditionals will taken on the nature of the water mixables and the mixture will have better body to it, and yet great clean up.

Hi Chris, I like your profile image, too. I think I prefer seeing a bit of the person's artwork over a photo of the face. Guess I should name mine, "Self Portrait of the Artist as an Orange".

Hhi, Chris.  I don't use the water soluble anymore but did use the Max and Holbein water solubles.  I never did use water as a medium because with the Max, any glazes with water did not have enough substance and would wipe off with the next layer even after it was dry!  I don't know if Holbein is that bad.  I used Quick Dry medium for the Max because it said it was non toxic at the time but I don't think it has that label anymore.  I did like using that.  I started using lindseed oil only as a medium since it is non toxic and realized it was pointless to use the water soluble since I wasn't using it with water.  For cleaning, I use "turpenoid natural" which is supposed to be non toxic also.  Thanks for your comments.  I have a website www.carolhallock.com if you would like to check it out.  Carol Hallock

Hi Chris, Gorgeous work! I did some batik many years ago while growing up-- ran into a friend of mine yesterday who is now working in incaustic, using the newer electric batik tools. Between the two of you I'm tempted to dive back into the wax. Carry on-- you have a good thing going!

Thanks for reading my blog.  It really is frustrating as an artist to look at a customer and hear what our hard work is worth at times.  I try to produce everything in standard sizes to avoid that outcome.

Thank so much. I'm not sure what we have network wise, but will ask himself. my dailies are hard work and one of the best parts of my day. cannot believe the changes they're making in my outlook and my technique. Love the two pieces in your gallery above. Beautiful! I see you like the Allmans. Thoughts about Derek Trucks playing?
