Anything done really well esp. classical, jazz, musical theater, country, opera, bluegrass, classic rock. Favorites: Chopin, Diana Krall

The most recent good book I read was "The Four Agreements" by Ruiz -- life changing, clear, and sensible.

I enjoy lots of films and can be talked into going to see almost anything other than horror and action (I believe it all ... can't even wade in the ocean anymore after seeing "Jaws" nearly 30 years ago). I thought "Tango Lesson" by Sally Potter was fabulous -- every frame was a work of art, and the Yo Yo Ma music video at the end was just great.

I started "Art Calendar" magazine 21 years ago. 21 years ago I thought it would be part-time and I started it on a desk in the laundry room. Who woulda thunk it?

Competence. Joy. Music. Theatre. Art. My children. God. Gorgeous clouds. The sea. Love. A good vacation. Chick flicks. Red wine. Kindness. Horses. Flowers. Herb gardening. Good food.

Slow drivers in the left lane. Meanness. Rudeness. Incompetence. Blaming. Inflexibility. Corporate mentality (or lack thereof).

Horses (especially Lipizzans), homeopathic medicine, fitness, cooking, vintage and artist-made clothing, eBay.

Carolyn,  Paints with Sticks and I have been thinking of a "Scuttlebutt Festival" or "Party Pow Wow".  We could sell our art, have a bar-b-que with all the fixin's, music, etc.  That way we could actually meet some of the online friends we are getting to know. We would plan of having it somewhere in the central US so it would be easily accessible for most of us.  I would love to hear your thoughts on this?  Has this ever been considered?  You can email me if you want or go to my site.  Deb_Magelssen

Your painting of the rose drew me to your gallery. :)

The latest issue of Art Calendar is wonderful!

Carolyn, another great one!

I used the formula to diversify by teaching blacksmithing at a art school in Virginia for a week and a weekend.  Blacksmithing is very expensive to set up properly, and I can show people how to do it with the best equipment and good forging techniques.  The baby boomers are interested in art and this allows them to learn something new, for me to pass on the knowledge to someone else, and I solely use this money to purchase tools that will improve my art and perfomance at the forge.

Special kudos on this issue to yourself,Annie and Steve Yahn (it is nice to have feedback to someone that has improved your quality of life).

Cheers,

I have a festival to set up my forge at gotta run.  I will post pictures.  I think it is time to put a picture of myself up also!

Steve

Carolyn, thanks for getting all this started! It's great to see your work and to make this personal connection after I have been an avid reader for so many years. Thanks also for the friend request. I am new to these networks and not that familiar with the etiquette on making requests, but you have gotten me started now. Best wishes for a successful and happy 2008!

Hi Carolyn, Thanks for offering your friendship. I accept and thank you for putting together such a great magazine as Art Calendar. Great work as an editor and artist.
