For years I painted rugged landscapes
inspired by places I hiked. I'd plan my
work on location. That all changed when
my friend was injured and we had to help
him hike out of the forest. After he was
safely back I wanted to know what we
missed. So I painted the place I wanted to have found.

That experience started a whole new tradition in my studio. Now my work includes both the lush, beautiful places I have visited and those I
invent - places you can only get to through the 'window' of the painting. My goal is for these completely original places to
make satisfying escapes.

Here's my blog: www.barbaraferrier.blogspot.com

Skiing, the outdoors in general - trusting my intuition when painting. And of course, my husband and children.

I saw your reply in the Marketing Group and had to agree that Art and Fear is a wonderful book.  I'm still in the process of reading it but it has already been reassuring. - Steven

Hi Barbara, it has been a while since we have 'talked'! Its great when a creative roll takes a life of its own and I dont know if you posted your 9 new works yet but I will be looking for them. I have my big spring show memorial day weekend and am just finalizing details .. I even bought a rug for my booth, something I never bothered doing in the past! I figure it cant hurt if my booth space looks more 'finished' and the rug I found at Pier I was the perfect color to go with my display panels. I have yet to do a show where there isnt some new addition or accessory to my booth but I figure by the time I feel my booth is just as it should be, I'll stop doing shows!

Barbara,

Your paintings are terrific. You have certaainly captured the neauty of the Southwest in your work. I especially love your scenes with touquise and blues. Wonderful work. Keep your eye on the real prize -- making beautiful paintings is what it is all about.

Hey ya, I couldn't find the group

I think the engineer in all engineers, wants to not be so limited in their creations.  LOL... That's what made me give it up.  couldn't really create.  Now I am in the middle of about 3 different series.  Ideas are flowing left right and center.

Your work is incredible.  Love the colors.  (at some point I will actually add colors in my work again.   LOL)

PS.  Thanks for all the awesome comments.
