time Travelers wife Epic love story...I haven't found anything like it since...good to hear from someone esle who liked it and could follow it.... I cried so hard when you know what happened....My hubby read it too...and for a guy he even thought it was a really good story.

I know I visit LA quite often and go to the galleries and it is really hard just like up in SF....

Here I actually prefer hanging in restaurants and shops... I sell regularly and don't pay a commission.  A little wine, a good meal...and they want to take home the art... it works very well.

Oh yeah, I have 2 sisters in LA.  I used to live in Berkeley...I miss CA terribly.  Used to go to the mountains on the weekends.  Do you show anywhere there?

Hey Trish, thanks for your comments.. I usually make my own stnecils, in this it is the design you referred to as damask that is a stencil pattern...but I bought this one.  First I load heavy medium on to the canvas  usually a joint compound mix with primer,or textured paint. then I texture it. then work with it like a fresco...the compound is still damp and the paint gets absorbed into it.  many layers of glaze or watered down paint to build up the shadow and depth...really cant see the texture in this photo. In this one I then took the flat side of a brush with some metallic silver and bronze paints and brushed it over the raised stencil.... then the final touch was to paint on the flowers.......

So I got a chance to look at your gallery.  You are an incredible portrait artist...this is the hardest for me. capturing the face... Do you graph it? how do you capture it so well?  Samual Jackson..no doubt.  I hang in a co op gallery with several local artist and one of them also did the same portrait as your After Sargent....but yours is so rich....

Trish - I just came across your gallery works - AMAZING. I see your creative collage techniques and suddenly find the urge to experiment. It's a good sign when your art spawns new creativity in others! Also, I am a big fan of Rembrant and his self portraiture. I am reminded of his works when I see your celebrity portraits. It's a mix of Old World methods with Warholian themes!

Hi Trish,  Thank you for your comment.  I think your black and white work is stunning.  Have you ever considered using your collage title on a male subject like your black and whites of the old men.  I would enjoy seeing what you do with that.

What I wrote about in my blog was a definate scam.  Just recently, I recieved an eMail alert from a major state wide art group telling me about this very ploy.  Stay away from the eager buyer moving from London to South Africa wanting to pay with a cashier check.  Some fell into the sale and the checks were frauds.   me
