I don't use a retarder. I don't normally work fast. I think Chinese New Year (my latest post) took me around 8 hours?! I wet every board before I begin and then layer thin washes of paint. Due to excessive use of water in the painting process -- my boards curl up...but they flatten nicely when pressed and framed.
I like that you re-worked that painting we talked about. The "after" strokes build the paint up nicely -- it almost has a pastel feel to it. I see it hanging in a gallery somewhere in Southern Arizona....
