Thanks for stopping by my gallery.  As you can see, I enjoy nature as a subject too.  Good luck to you!

Sue, Thanks for visiting "Callisto" and leaving your kind comments. I really like the "on fire from within" observation.  -Don

Hi Sue, Thanks for the great comments on my new cloudscapes. You asked if I would tell you what colors I use. Whether I paint plein air or in the studio my palette is mostly the same. I believe using a limited palette helps to make you a better  color mixer with the benefit of achieving color harmony easier. My palette is comprised of Titanium White (for plein air), Flake White (studio), Windsor Yellow, Cadmium Red Medium, Ultramarine Blue, Permanent Rose, Phthalo Blue and Black. Black is only there if I just need a black. Even in those circumstances, I mix it to be either warm or cool. The Phthalo Blue and Permanent Rose are basically there to give me a magenta and cyan which to me, are the missing two primaries in the standard red, yellow, blue color wheel.

Warm Regards, Dave

Hi Sue - my new work in the gallery is a watercolor painting with ink stamps! I went to AC Moore and bought some funky ink colors and some fern stamps so technically, its a mixed media painting, not a pure watercolor, and its all about the color. I have used ink stamps in the past to create patterns in some of my geisha's robes and I dont know that I would submit a work with ink stamps to a juried watercolor show, but to me, its important to have fun while creating art and I say, there are no rules when creating art!)
