Thanks for the thoughtful and insightful comments!  Those paintings of my mother were difficult, emotionally, for me to do, but they helped me over some issues I didn't know I had.  I like your approach to your art - very different from mine, which makes it all the more interesting ... I particularly like "Shelter", very mysterious.

All the best,

Skip

How lovely you are encouraging others to paint, particularly those in nursing homes! I enjoyed your gallery! Greetings from Australia, Lina

I am happy that you found me, so I could find you : )

Your work is wonderful! After reading your  "About Me" it seems as though our paths might have crossed at some point .

I am eager to look at your website....you must have loved your time in Sante Fe...isn't the light ethereal????

Thank you for your interest in Navajo Woman at her Loom. It is a piece close to my heart. It is an original acrylic on Illustration Board...from my very first solo show after graduating from UT (Austin, Texas)

The pattern making is from a brush -- I manipulate the form of the tip, dip in paint  and begin...

Let's talk again soon

Hi S.E.

Thanks for your comments about my blog and sorry it took so long to respond.  You did hit the nail on the head.  After spending so many years illustrating everything from sodium channels in a nerve membrane to the innards of a ginseng oven, I'm having a tough time finding my own voice.  I'm a big fan of poignancy, being one of those folks who tear up at a well crafted dog food commercial, but it's tough to develop a 'title' from that.  I'm tempted to just develop various alias's and see how that flies.

Hey, is one of your oils from Mesa Verde?  I lived in Colorado for 17 years and used to hang out down in the area all the time.  I love landscapes and envy anyone who can pull them off, especially plein air.  Very nice.

Beautiful work.  I was attracted by your Utah painting.  My wife and I spend a lot of time in Utah and we have hiked most of the parks and of course I paint a lot while we are there.  We also spend a lot time in New Mexico where I have painted many of the Missions and Moradas.
