Hi Sara,

I was drawn to your profile by your blog "According to plan?"  Enjoyed your blog commentary immensely.

Your work is beautiful.  I really like the way you explain things on your website too.

Nice to meet a fellow glass artist.  Can't wait to see a picture of the stained glass window you were describing in today's blog.

Best wishes,

Kathleen

You work is wonderful! I am inspired! I paint, mostly in acrylics. I started doing stained glass last year after taking a class and love it! The glass is addictive, the colors, textures. I would love to see some close-ups of the tile installation. Is it glass imbedded in cemment? I would love to get into ceramics, especially tiles but the expense is to great at this point. I have a friend with a kiln I can use for now. Just wanted to let you  know how wonderful your work is and can't wait to see more!

Hi Sara,

I had the opportunity to visit your website and I'm impressed with your new studio.  How fitting that you're doing glasswork in an old church!  After seeing your intricate stained glass pieces and jewelry, I believe you're going to make a beautiful gallery.

Sara, Thanks for the comment.  I have been involved in the Garden Walk 5 years in a row now. It really is a wonderful day for an artist. This is what I know. There is one person for each of the different venues. So if there is a ? you call the person in charge of the gardens or the artists. they send out their own fliers, to invite artists, to invite them to a meeting of both artists and gardeners. At this meeting the artists have already been assigned to a garden, and they meet the home owners and discuss, things like : are you allowed to hang art on their fence? with what? is there a bthroom for the artist to use? Is there a place to run to if it rains? will food be provided? (not expected, but some do!) From that meeting on everyone fends for themselves..to see the gardens ahead and 'pick' your 'spot' etc. I have the papers from this years I will gladly send them to you. They invite a variety of artists. glass workers, quilters, sculptors ,waterclor, oil, acrylic painters...whatever you have. The word gets out and there will be many who want to sign up for the next year. the volunteers usually came from the gardeners, two to a garden, switching at noon or one. They count the people coming in( looks good in the paper follow up ) they have part of their brochure  (the brochure IS the ticket to get in) is used as a n entry to win  one of the door prizes. Get back to me, It is fun work.

Ooops, I forgot to answer your question about the mounting system.  I made it from steel square tubing.  I used a grinder to shiney it up and then welded it together.  The clips to hold the glass are from CRL and the final step was an automotive clear coat so that the metal would retain its shine and not rust.
