Thanks for the advice. Not sure if i'll ever leave teaching. But at times I romanticize a little too much about working at Home Depot. Teaching at a boarding school is more like camp-after we live with our students! To leave the job at 5 with no worries is somewhat appealing. Also when you teach art-you are constantly giving away good ideas...Its winter and times are dull. We have a 2 week spring break coming up that will recharge the batteries (do they have spring break at Home Depot?).

Hi Marcia, I am about 15 miles north of Boston right on the coast - I see the ocean from my window (and I hate to admit if I had a choice between viewing the ocean or viewing the mountains I'd pick mountains)! We dont have much snow right now although its suppose to get colder, but cold and snow dont get to me. I happen to love Vermont and try to visit every summer to a place called Chester, Vt. I met an artist there who changed my entire art world about 6 yrs ago.. ever hear of Jeanne Carbonetti? She has a studio and home in Chester. Did I mention I love Vermont?!

Take care, Robin

OK, I tried some waterless litho with aluminum flashing, pencils, and some silicone goop.  There was a good class in Barre at the SPA, but the timing was pretty bad for me.  So I don't see any on your site, do you have any posted, or can you post one?

The Skinny Show went well for me.  The BCA connection will be nice, to keep an established presence in Burlington, and expand my circle of exposure. I will be in the Maltex Building soon, perhaps you could come to the opening?

I am convinced that VT isn't really a good market for my art, perhaps art in general.  I am also showing in Milford NH, and although I have lots of kudos, showing in cafes is great for exposure and cutting your teeth on the whole process.  But, no one really Sells

I am pretty interested in showing again in a gallery, and have signed up for some street type fairs to get a chance to meet folks.

I think you might try calling BCA and refreshing their memory or your wish to show on the corp. list.  I did get a call and will hang some work soon.  Your illustrations might not be suitable as a genre, but now that youre doing block cuts and lithos, you might resubmit, or update your listing with them.

what an interesting assortment of art in your gallery.. my favorite is the hummingbird but thats cause I am a lover of nature.. the medical stuff freaks me out even though I can appreciate the detail in your art.

M J: I very much admire everything in your gallery. You really are meticulous about detail! I agree with someone that you need to decide on a particular subject, i.e., pets, people, etc. I just took a two-day art marketing workshop and they kept saying "Think in terms of cohesiveness. Paint in a way that someone will say M J does this work. I recognize her title!" Now, at the moment, that is my big problem. Do I want to do rocks and mountains, or do I want to play with flowers? Shall I stick with one medium when I love experimenting? It's a tough decision, but if I want to become "known" and sell more, it's one I need to think about. Good luck with your show!

Hey there that is okay! As I have just moved here I am looking to meet other artists and have that part of my life back again. There are some aspects of the academic setting that I miss and mostly it is the companionsip I shared with other artists. They have all dispersed their separate ways and I am still somewhat hanging around. I am not in school yet. I am even questioning whether I want to go back yet. There is just so much to contemplate! Blargh! Those of us who are artists need to be surrounded my other artists! It is what helps keep me motaivated at least... Well, keep in touch!
