Hi,

Sorry to leave you.  Been chasing nails all week and into Sat.  I have forgotten our thread, and realized I can only read my half on the Butt messaging system...annoying, makes a case for using gmail.

Trust you are well, I did read chunks of the 'secrets' booklet.  I like it although, these things tend to be somewhat nonspecific, since it is describing the normally unseen.  Doing some summer traveling?

Punderson State Park is 5 minutes from my house.  Let me know if you come to Ohio. It'll be great to meet you in 'real' life!

Kara,

Hmm...Teilhard coincidence left as a hanging question.

I
have read at least one article about him, and a quick google has
reminded me of the context.  He thought that evolution was directional,
leading humanity toward higher aspirations.  Perhaps artists have a way
of somehow weaving aspects of his noosphere?

I discovered him
while I was reading An Outline of Occult Science, which gives another
view of the evolutionary nature of the universe, and further develops
the ideas of the duality of humanity's matter/noosphere into four
levels: matter/life/soul/individuality.  Maybe I can find a link to
OS...here is a good summary:

http://www.doyletics.com/_arj1/oc96rvw.htm

I
certainly agree we need some new thinking on the nature of our
matter/spirit split, it doesn't seem to be part of popular discourse
today.  I feel that painting provides a link between myself as a skin
and bones creature and a god-imbued united spiritual being in an
evolving universe.  If an Omega Point forms a unifying direction for us
all, it is a useful concept.  (Hmmm Maybe I need to revise my artist
statement?).  Have you seen Alex Grey's work?

In a country
where 49% of the population agrees the world began 10,000 years ago or
less, I would say his work is as controversial as ever. (Nation
Geographic report of gallop poll).

So the coincidence?

Yes, "cleanse..." comes from Huxley, who probably stole it from Blake.  I guess one thing I discovered working alot last week was that influences (& inspiration) floods in from everywhere, like it or not, even from the ethers..  We were in an artist's studio admiring such a beautiful blue and vermilion painting.  Glancing out the window we noticed a sign with the same colors, which shocked the painter!  Then, through the other window, you guessed it, the colors from a building worked right into her work.  Not stolen, but certainly artfully used.

The writers there were shocked to discover that "Whiskey" had somehow insinuated itself into several of their works, seemingly from the Collective Consciousness or through some mysterious telepathy....

I guess you know house paint fades...that is probably part of the plan, right? Jackson Pollock did it too, and nobody seems too concerned about his work loosing value.

Thanks for sharing your "basic pallet" which seems pretty complicated to me, in theory, but perhaps less so in practice.  I might try the same painting from a whole different pallet of greens and get similar results, who knows?  Feeling green inspirations from the yard?

I guess the Collective Consciousness is the real Matrix, eh?
Perhaps all we artists need to be a bit like Neo and find a way to
"cleanse our doors of perception."

I will dig up some other web
sites from my random scratches, but I didn't see anything like your
work! Some stencils and painted cut-outs reapplied to canvas and
panels. There were some interesting uses of layered stencils and
stencils cut like paper dolls.  I even used tiny stencils for some of
the leaves on Fiddlehead. Did I refer you to http://rachelpaxton.com/ ?

It's not as easy to tell but there are lots of collaged stuff here:

http://jessgrahamstudio.com/index.html

Some
how i feel like i am "cheating" when I do collage, but I got to get
ovet that....Afterall, there is no such thing a cheating in art.
Perhaps all of art is finding special ways to cheat.

Thanks for the look...Your green piece is so 'cool'!  I found a new green color I am having fun with, "cadmium green".  Probably not so user friendly, esp with that flake white, but so beautiful!  What are your greens here?  I might guess pthalo and/or viridian?

Hi Kara, I had to cancel my Italy trip! Last month was terrible for so many reasons from health issues to financial issues to ex husband issues that it was best to put off going. My son has been there since January and we (my daughters and I) were going to meet him in Rome but as my son put it, Rome has been around a few thousand years and will still be around for a while so it will be there for when I am ready and able to get there.
