Laura, Thanks for the visit.  The piece you were interested in was rendered in 100% colored pencil.  The paper I used was low grade drawing paper.  Thhis peice started as a doodle.  Once completed I crumpled it up about a hundred times, then set it under a pile of books to flatten it out.  The results are what you see in my gallery.  The folds and creaes add a pretty cool visual tension, and barrier between the viewer and the work.  Thus the title "In Plain Sight".  We can see Peace, and it is attainable, but lately it seems there is much in the way of its progress.  Hope this is informative!  Thanks again,

Kevin

Hey Laura

I always admire your work when I go into the LaGrange Art League.  Thanks for the comments on my work! (I'll be adding my mom's work on here soon)

Newest piece posted, Flash Back, 36 x 48 Collage on Canvas, I have a question to ask.... I seem to create my work like a visual journal.  Things that come up or events that happen I seem to work through it.  I  can go back and look at an older piece and tell just what I was working through, Does anyone else seem to connect with that?  The only time that artwork will look the same is when I do a series.  But I have choosen to set a goal of making 12 large collages on canvas this year so I'm exploring the larger surface to work on and what I can and can't do so the work lately is very experimental.   I know that galleries like to see that you can produce the same quaility of work but I can't help but explore and expand.  Randomness coming out but comment are more then welcome.

Laura, I saw your work at the Norris Gallery in St Charles. I really enjoyed your work and the way you used your materials.

Just complete a short but sweet presentation of what I do for the Alcatel-Lucent company for National Women's History Month(March) the small group there is called the Women's Leadership group and they asked my to come in and do a demo for them, this years them is Women's Art, Women's Vision.  I was a great Opportunity to share and make contacts.  Had the bus.cards some postcard and also some brochures of the classes I'll be teaching this next session.  Keep the art moving forward and keeping the name and work present in the viewer eyes.
