Hi Jacci,

Wow!, like your questions, How did I get started?  Well after twins turned 4, my youngest of four.  I was looking in the local paper and saw a collage class, took the 4 weeks and listened to the teacher.  she said you have something there.   So I continued and listened and experimented and explored.  I seem to have this thing "if I can do that then what happens if I did this" disease and before I know it I'm teaching and doing workshops.  You then ask if I've always gravitated towards collage?  Well sounds kind of goofy but I feel that my figures and the sense of touch are a very very important part of my learning and when I touch something as simple as paper or the texture I'm hooked.  I did a lot of ceramics and piece building all through high school so I'm drawn to the construction of things and the textural stimulation.  Hope this answers you questions.. I feel that I'm only at the beginning stages of this art process and there tons more to learn and how exciting that us human, two leggeds can do that.  We are the only ones that can extend our emotional feelings outward to express our inner most thoughts.  Well I'll quite babbling, Gemini's are now for the gift to gab about just about anything...

Hi Laura,

thanks for your comment about my works - it's nice to hear that it's not a bad thing to have artwork of differing mediums and subjects...I always stress that I'm still working to find my 'body' of works.

I enjoyed reading your profile and your philosophy regarding teaching and art -- and the comments from others on your site...you sound like a very neat woman!  How did you get started?  Did you always gravitate toward collage?

Looking forward to hearing from you - enjoy your meditations in motion!!

I just finished a series called "present day, lack of"  there are 13 pieces in all.  Small collages on watercolor and canvas.  I created this series with the first piece called lack of self, artless. Which as has to do with myself of course.  I like to use letters and words as part of an element in my work.  I get asked a lot about what the letter stand for. Usually not much just like them in there.  But this time I used the letters and the story just started to emerge.  Could stop till I used up all the papers.  What do you think??

I experiment with a variety of mediums, collage, acrylic, beeswax etc.. to layer and create texture.  I love learning different techniques, and sometimes I make up my own.  Good luck with your show!
