I am not quite sure what to say to your teacher's comments about just getting out to do your art.  After 20 years of just "doing my art" I realized I needed to get some formal training under my belt and went back to school just to do that.  It was a very confusing time...because what I though was really wonderful turned out to be "hallmark art" in their eyes.  I am a nurse and I was asked to paint the angst in my life (it was during the 80's and early 90's) and I retorted back to them that I saw enough tragedy in my real job to want to paint that.  After I graduated, it took me two years to finally get back to painting.  I was amazed at what I had learned from each professor and, to this day, can hear each one whispering in my ear when I paint.  I really think your art  speaks of feeling and wonderful promise.  Is there a way you can get back into the world of art education?

Hi "Artfelt"!

Thanks for the visit/compliments!  I went to community college for a
couple of years and then to Kendall College of Art & Design for a
year.  My teachers told me my work is excellent and that I'm very
talented, and that I was basically  wasting my money paying tuition
when I should just go out and make my art.   So I stopped going to
school.  I was doing a lot of photo-realistic commissions, which kind
of "killed" my creativity/fun and enjoyment of art-making;  And, I've
been through some really rough times in the past few years, but now I
feel the creative spark is growing brighter again.  I kind of feel like
a beginner again - which is actually a good thing. Thanks again for the
compliments!  And, keep doing what you love!

All the best,

-Jendria

P.S.  I'll post this response on your page too.  (I'm never quite sure whether to respond on the visitor's page or my own.)

Jendria - Thank you for your comments.  Your work is really quite a collection for someone as young as you are.  Are you studying art?  I really like your trees and use of color!  Keep up the great work!

Anyone who loves the Moody Blues is a friend of mine.  Oh, and Kung Fu- I used to watch that all the time.  Does this mean we are old?  No Way-  Love your gallery.   You have a good sense of emotion in your work.   Ta Ta     Deb

Jendria, I actually re read your profile and I am not surprised that you connect to my art just like I connect to your art! We share common interests as well as a love of nature (and trees). I just wish I could paint figures as beautifully as you do although my passion really is focused in nature, landscape, and the moon!

Take care,

Robin
