Hi Deb,

Thanks for the compliment! I love your work too!  I
don't have much on there at the moment, because I have always done
pieces for others and never photographed anything!   The other result
of being that kind of painter is not really honing in on any particular
style..I just do whatever I am asked to do, unless the inspiration
moves me, (like the piece "a walk to heaven", which was also for someone else, a wedding
gift.    I'm working on a comprehensive portfolio now, because I'm
finally 'serious'..HA!  So, you're living abroad?  I'd like to hear
more about your journeys.  I lived in France once upon a time.

Deb - thanks for the nice note.

Before I went full-time like you, I asked an artist friend who had made a good living painting for 25 years, how I could become become a better artist. He said "That's easy - quit your day job." I laughed and said "No, really."  He replied "I mean it - quit your day job - you'll get much better real fast!"

He was right.

Congratulations on having the guts to leave your day job - I applaud you.

Hi Deb,

Thank you so much for the welcome to scuttlebutt!  I really enjoy your work as well!  Do you run your own studio? How long have you been a part of this site?

Deb, I am really and truly happy about what I am capable of doing now, all because I decided to take the plunge and get my own photoshop softwear. I did not need to purchase the complete photoshop softwear but photoshop elements was all I needed to resize for shows. I just finished making my first disc, 300 DPIs at 4 x 6. I had to label each painting according to the instructions the Copley Society requires and I will be submitting work to them next week. I used to pay someone to do this for me and it really isnt hard so all I can say to you is dont be afraid to get your own softwear. For resizing art photos you only need photoshop elements (about $90). If I can help you with anything dont hesitate to email (robin@fineartbyrobin.com is the best address because I have not been receiving emails from this website properly).

Good luck!
