Thanks for checking in. I just got home from a 3 day show last weekend and I was pleasantly surprised at how many people attended the show. I had customers from 2 yrs ago come looking for me and sold 2 of my favorite paintings. It was a good show, thankfully. I dont think having the lower priced items to sell is enough to cover show costs but it does keep you busy with easy sales. I think I sell prints and notecards at every show I do, its my bread and butter, but it isnt enough to cover the $1000 booth fees not to mention the hotel, gas, and food expenses. It sounds like you need to try all your selling options out before you find the best assortment so good luck with that.

The gallery in Boston (the owner works with Pat as an art consultant for hospitals) continues to sell my prints and although she isnt that interested in my original paintings, I cant complain about her needing me to reorder prints for her to keep selling!

I am teaching 2 days a week now, and in school 1 weekend a month, so my focus keeps changing and selling paintings isnt the top of my priority list (for now). Good luck with your upcoming show and please keep me posted.

Robin

Hi Barbara, It seems my favorite scuttlebutt 'buddies' took time off this summer and its good to hear from you! No one had posted new comments in the 3 groups I am a member of, until you posted your comments yesterday. I am glad you have found your 'happy place' with the show booth environment .. have any recent booth photos? I am only doing one fall booth show and will need to travel light this time because I am doing the show alone... dont think I will bring my large prints to sell.  and classes start up end of the month so my focus seems to be wandering into different types of art and learning and teaching, but its all good.

I saw your reply in the Marketing Group and had to agree that Art and Fear is a wonderful book.  I'm still in the process of reading it but it has already been reassuring. - Steven

Hi Barbara, it has been a while since we have 'talked'! Its great when a creative roll takes a life of its own and I dont know if you posted your 9 new works yet but I will be looking for them. I have my big spring show memorial day weekend and am just finalizing details .. I even bought a rug for my booth, something I never bothered doing in the past! I figure it cant hurt if my booth space looks more 'finished' and the rug I found at Pier I was the perfect color to go with my display panels. I have yet to do a show where there isnt some new addition or accessory to my booth but I figure by the time I feel my booth is just as it should be, I'll stop doing shows!
