Daily Picture - Onions and Asparagus - Miniature
DATE: 02/27/2008 19:05:48 / MOOD: in love
Most of what I have been doing lately is working in miniature. That has allowed me to pack most of my "art stuff" in preparation for a move in a couple of weeks. Everyday more goes into boxes and crates but I have to have something to work with. Right now it is little WC blocks and my sketch book. Todays painting came to me in the grocery store the other day. I saw these beautiful purple onions and bought them just to paint. I added the asparagus for composition's sake. I am not usually a still life painter, but lately have been inspired by my groceries.

Daily Picture - Osprey - Miniature
DATE: 02/25/2008 18:34:23 / MOOD: lonely
Today's picture is another of Florida's birds. I have seen osprey nests next to new buildings that lost their roof's in hurricanes. The nests remained firmly in place. Ospreys are beautiful, graceful birds and I always root for the bird when I see one dive for its supper. http://www.artscuttlebutt.com/file/pic/gallery/9174.jpg

Daily Picture - Scrub Jay - Miniature
DATE: 02/24/2008 19:56:24 / MOOD: don't know
Today's post is a painting of one of Florida's many endangered species. This is a scrub jay and it's habitat is in great demand to be changed into human habitat. It likes high and dry areas which also is in great demand by the over-developers. It is difficult to see them except in wildlife preserves. Check this link. It is a 5X7" watercolor. http://www.artscuttlebutt.com/file/pic/gallery/9096.jpg

Daily Picture - Cut Pepper - Miniature
DATE: 02/23/2008 18:36:18 / MOOD: lonely
We took another cross state trip to check on our house construction yesterday and got back today. Our new neighbors had a Florida Low-boil dinner. It was all you could eat oysters, shrimp, clams, crab claws, and all the good stuff to go with. A palm tree had to be removed from our property and the builder harvested the heart and we had swamp cabbage soup. Today's post a mate to one I posted a week or so ago.

Daily Picture - Palm and Heron
DATE: 02/20/2008 18:16:19 / MOOD: don't know
My daily post is a monotype that is a bit darker than what I usually do. That is the interesting thing with the monotype process. You get a lot of surprises. The link is below. http://www.artscuttlebutt.com/file/pic/gallery/8599.jpg

Daily Picture - Lizard Maze
DATE: 02/19/2008 21:45:23 / MOOD: happy
Today's post is another monotype that I worked on yesterday. I started it awhile back but didn't like it. Once I added the textures, though, it has grown on me. I try to make my monotypes with a Florida theme. Anyone who knows Florida, is familiar with the many lizards we have. I love watching their antics. http://www.artscuttlebutt.com/file/pic/gallery/8491.jpg

Daily Picture - Face Angles
DATE: 02/18/2008 18:37:31 / MOOD: lonely
It has been a while since I was able to get to our museum and work in the print studio. It felt good. I have been so busy sorting and packing for an impending move that my art has taken a back seat. This painting sort of reflects my mood today. I keep thinking of every thing that needs to be done and am somewhat overwhelmed. Printmaking opens me up to abstraction which is not my forte'. Today it also worked as a distraction.
http://www.artscuttlebutt.com/file/pic/gallery/8341.jpg It sure would be nice if the image insert would work everyday instead of intermittently.
