A little more
DATE: 03/31/2008 22:42:03 / MOOD: bored
Still working on getting the studio floor painted. My husband thought I was crazy when I told him my plans for the floor but he likes it. We put a base of sand colored paint on the concrete, then I took some old cans of paint and drizzled and splattered it. I figured if it was good enough for Pollack it was good enough for me. My husband decided it looks good so far. What a way to use up the old paint that was just deteriorating in the cans.

Making progress

We got a few more things done around here today. My husband moved his things out of the studio to his hangar. Tomorrow he can work on cleaning the floor so we can paint it. By the way, I moved from the east coast of Fl (Space Coast) to the west (Nature Coast). Unfortunately most of the Space Coast has become very over populated and destroyed too much nature for my likes. I lived there all my life but couldn't stand it anymore. So sad. I am looking forward to exploring the preserve and conservation areas here. But, first the studio has to be set up.

This is my first post in over a week. I have been too busy moving into my new house which still needs a lot of work before it can be said to be complete. The biggest thing for me is getting the studio set up. Now that the house is functioning, the studio will be the priority the next couple of days. Tomorrow all the stuff that doesn't belong there gets moved out then the floor can be cleaned and painted so I can get it arranged. My husband has been a dear even with my sometimes foul mood.

Moving at last

We finally loaded up today to move to our "retirement"' home. I retired two years ago but it has taken this long to get a house built. The truck was loaded today and it will be unloaded on Sat. Then we get the wonderful "pleasure" of organizing everything so we can find things. One thing is for sure. We have way too much stuff. How can two people have enough stuff to fill a full size moving van? I think the only way to weed things out is for me to go through my husband's stuff and for him to go through mine. I'll be out of touch for a few days until we get internet service at the new place.

Birds and Gators

It was a bright sunny day so I decided to go to a wildlife reserve that has been created at a waste water treatment area. I got lots of good photos for possible future work. Check the link below if you are interested in birds and gators. That is pretty much all I saw.

Daily picture - Fisherman's Paradise Lost

It has been a few days since I posted. I have been too busy and tired to deal with it. This is a monotype and collage I did a while back. The title "Fisherman's Paradise Lost" sort of says it all. Fishing in Florida was great when I was a kid but it is much more difficult to get a catch like this these days. The fisherman in this case was my brother-in-law.

Another day of not creating. I did make it to a demo by Jean Grastorf. She is in the area for a workshop with our watercolor society and the instructor always does a demo at the meeting the day before the workshop starts. It was an amusing demo.

Found out today that our move is delayed a week because of construction delays. That is very frustrating because I really can't concnetrate on art and have packed most of my things. I haven't done anything new in over a week. I did go to an unveiling of a sculpture last night. We have a friend who is quite the collector of paintings and sculpture. This piece was "Cassiopeia" by Nicole Taillon. It was larger than life size, and, as the host said, anatomically exact. It was a beautiful piece.

We took another trip across state today to check on the construction of our new house. Everything is looking good for move in next week. I'll be glad when that is over and I can get back to being an artist instead of a packer. Today's picture was a thought I had while driving across the state last week. It is an I used to see when I was a kid that has been replaced by massive housing developments instead. http://www.artscuttlebutt.com/file/pic/gallery/10163.jpg
