This is the book cover I painted for my new book, "The ABC's of Wine and Beer Making" which is now going to the publishers. As a serious home vintner for 14 years this was a fun illustrated painting to do. Yes, that is me and the sign on the wall says, "Employees must wash feet before returning to work".

"Arlene's Geraniums" is a 6" x 9" watercolor and India ink painting done on 100% acid free cold press watercolor paper. Arlene says. "I love geraniums and once the weather breaks I fill many pots and urns throughout my patio garden with all kinds of geraniums. I love the Mediterranean feel about them. The weather is still cold here and even though we are at the tail end of March it tried to snow here in Kentucky which is amazing. Needless to say it got no where. However, it did encourage me to go into my studio sit down and paint this little painting. Purchase this painting now.

3/26/08 March is not going out like a lion, but it sure is hating to give up. In about 2 or 3 weeks the bleeding hearts will be out in the big arbor and that prompted me to remember what they looked like and paint this little painting today. It is a 3.5" x 5" watercolor and India ink for the background. It will be matted in a white 5" x 7" mat and ready for framing.

We had a tour group of 4 come in to Avalon Stained Glass School from Wisconsin today and they enjoyed the tour. Did not buy anything, but good will for Munfordville since the Munfordville Welcome Center sent them up. I have an interesting gardening article I am starting to write about a family in Iowa that grow GIANT vegetables.

Our oldest son, Don, sent us some Ortaniques which are a cross between a Valencia and a Tangerine and they are incredibly sweet and full of juice. Apparently they grow only in Jamaica. They have a short season from Feb. to April, are pricey and are great eating and juicers. We love them when he sends them to us and I loved painting this little picture of two of them. This painting is 6" x 6" and is a watercolor with black India ink background on 399 gsm, cold press Fabriano watercolor paper.
