New Work
DATE: 03/13/2008 12:13:10 / MOOD: other
I've recently completed the Campfire series and uploaded them to my
page. It was challenging to work with a subject that is much less
structural and definite than the other subjects I've worked with
previously. The fire has such a wild, boundary-less quality that the
slight changes of color and shadows were smoother and less defined as
with objects created by humans. Another challenge I found was
capturing the amount of contrast caused by the flame and shadows in the
night. Of course, that's the main thing that attracted me to the
possibility of accomplishing this series. Hope you enjoy them!

Watercolor Exhibits

There are some excellent watercolor shows exhibiting now and in the coming months. I'm glad to be a part of two of them: the combined NWA and WHS exhibit in Fallbrook, CA which shows until March 16, and Watercolor Now!2008 at the Springfield Art Museum, Springfield, MO from April 26-June 1. Watercolor U.S.A. is at the Springfield Art Museum soon after that show. If you're in the areas go check out some watercolor!

Mural Complete!
DATE: 02/07/2008 18:58:39 / MOOD: other
After 59 hours and 137 sq.ft. covered with butterflies, the mural I painted in the church where I attend is now complete. It is one of the largest I have ever done, second only to a mural for a train platform painted two years ago. You're welcome to visit my Scuttlebutt page where I have posted several images of the mural. There is also more information about this mural and others I've done on my website at www.dianegoblefineart.com

Mural in Progress
DATE: 01/08/2008 10:39:51 / MOOD: other
I'm in the drawing phase of my next mural and all is going well. Of course it's still early so there's plenty of time for more decisions to make and challenges to face, as all projects go. This mural will be the the 5th one I've painted for the church where I attend, and the 8th one I've ever done. The others are located at a retirement community, a bakery/deli, and a private residence. The current mural will spread over four walls by an elevator near the children's classrooms. Look for the finished creation on my page in the near future!

Does anyone have any suggestions on what web hosting service I should look into for creating a website? I'm interested in using another site for my fine art and want to use a service provided specifically for artists. What about artspan?

I'm so glad to have heard of Art Scuttlebutt through Art Calendar Mag. It seems like a great place to talk to other artists and share ideas. I've posted some work in my gallery and would love if you stopped by. Check out more at www.goblestudios.com
