Interesting Printwork
DATE: 11/16/2008 19:39:04 / MOOD: happy
I always love to see other artists work. It's so interesting to see what other [people do and to be inspired by the variety of work that they create. As an artist I also know how nice it is to get feedback especially as we spend so much of our time working on our own. I have just been looking at a fellow printmakers blog, www.heatherassaf.blogspot.com Take a moment to check it out, and even better, encourage her by leaving a comment

Great Teachers
DATE: 08/13/2008 16:32:28 / MOOD: full of life
I was just thinking about the great teachers that I have had in the past. They are few and far between but great teachers change your life. I thought it would be nice to mention some who have helped me.
Lou Tice of the Pacific Institute in Seattle. He teachers, both people and companies, "how to build a better you." I have seen his courses completely inspire and change peoples lives.
M Douglas Walton. Douglas is an amazing art teacher who brings out unique work even from absolute beginners. You can read about his outstanding achievement at:
http://www.heartspring.org/resources/community/lifetimeachievement/walton.php
Doug Wales. A most generous and outstanding teacher who I was priviliged to be able to study under in Harrogate in the UK. He has so much knowlege and ability that he is eager to share and he pushed us all to push the limits in our work. He teaches at Grandby College.
Peter Wray, amazing printmaker and teacher. I spent many great days at his studio, which used to be an old pub, in a little village just out of York in the UK. www.handprintstudio.
Anyone else got teachers that they would like to sing the praises of?

Favorite Art Books
DATE: 08/10/2008 19:36:03 / MOOD: in love
Over the years I have read some great books on the process of making art. Most of these are not technique based books but more to do with the process of creativity. Some also have a leaning towards the spiritual in art. You can check out the list on my web site. http://www.susanneclark.com/artbooklist.html
You will find a link to Amazon on the page where you can read reviews of the books you think look interesting however most have very high ratings.
Enjoy and let me know if you have any favorite that I should look to adding.

Upcoming Exhibition
DATE: 07/28/2008 17:05:02 / MOOD: happy
I just found out a few days ago that my painting "Golden Geisha"has been accepted into the Atlanta Artists Center National exhibition. You can read more on my blog www.nonakedwalls.blogspot.com
The beautiful summer weather here in Atlanta is distracting me from doing art. When I lived in Ottawa the cold winters were great because I could really focus and not feel I was missing anything.

Updated
DATE: 07/07/2008 09:53:20 / MOOD: happy
I have just updated my blog www.nonakedwalls.blogspot.com
I am working on a new collagraph print with a musical theme and you can read info about the process and see a photograph of the first stage there. I am also doing another draw this month for one of my Kimono collagraph prints. It is a good sized print about 15 inches by 23 so if you want to be in for the draw read about how you can do that on the blog.
Today is beautiful here in Atlanta. I have had the door to the studio open while I took the photographs to post on the blog. Very pleasant!

Someone's won a CD
DATE: 07/01/2008 17:44:06 / MOOD: happy
I had a draw on my blog for people who subscribed to get email updates and I have emailed the winner whose name was Barbara. I decided to do this each month just for the fun of it. The goodie for the month of July is one of my Kimono collagraph prints. I will have a picture of the one offered on my blog in a day or so.
Meantime I have tidied up my very messy studio and I'm ready to start a new something. The only trouble is i'm not sure what the something is going to be.
I redid a page on my website this week. The program I use is Homestead and recently they added a new way to display pictures, or in my case, art. The page shows cropped thumbnails which once clicked on come up larger and can be panned through. This has been on lots of website but not on Homestead until now. If you have a look, let me know what you think. Feedback from other artists is always great.
