Call to Artists - Glass/Transparency
DATE: 04/18/2008 09:31:22 / MOOD: full of life
Glass & Transparency
Exhibition Dates: June 3 – 29, 2008
To celebrate the local glass community and to mark the international meeting of the Glass Art Society in Portland (June 19 - 21), Sixth Street Gallery is sponsoring a juried art exhibit of glass in all its diversity. Hot glass, warm glass, cold glass. Blown, kiln-formed, cast, flamed-worked, and stained glass will be featured in the gallery from June 3 – 29.
Complementing this exhibit will be a show of 2-D art on the theme of transparency. Glass, of course, is often transparent, but “transmitting light through a substance” isn’t the only definition of transparent. What about easy to see through?
Or unable to hide one’s feelings? Perhaps it’s upfront. How about honest? Maybe easily recognized. Or unable to lie?
Whatever your definition--or your medium--we’d like to see your 2-D interpretation of “Transparent.”
