Pulp Art
DATE: 02/07/2008 10:13:19 / MOOD: happy
I just found out that one of the two drawings were submitted for Pulp Art:Works on Paper exhibition. A worker at Roy G. Biv gallery also submitted two images and got the same results.
Where does this story leads to?
This guy happened to attended Ohio State(the same school I attended years ago) and he does custom framing. We got to talking and doesn't reside too far from where I live at.
Better yet he is even willing to trade art.
On top of that; trade art for frame making!
What a coincidence! Becuase I have to get ready for a two-month exhibition this summer for an up-scale resturant.

Works on Paper
DATE: 02/04/2008 09:59:49 / MOOD: full of life
Today I submitted two mixed media drawings for the Roy G. Biv's Pulp Art:Works on Paper. Their hosting the exhibition at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Columbus(OH). I'm very curious to see what others are submitting right now. I'm still at the library and it's not too far for me to check it out.
One of the set backs are framed pictures are not to exceed 24x24 inches. That seems to make it even more of challenge becasue I overheard a lady saying she had drawing that was much larger than that. I can understand the size limit though. Observing the space, there isn't much room for enornous pictures. Second, I think the gallery(and libray) wanted to give artists all a fair chance for artistic exposure.
Yeah..I think I will swing by the space before I go home. I want to see the art that's being submitted there.

The eraser
DATE: 01/30/2008 17:59:19 / MOOD: happy
I was doing a series of quick sketches for my new drawings and I was using an eraser for a few unwanted lines. That's when I realize that I haven't used an eraser for about four years on any picture I'v done.
I've been so used to working with permanent materials like ink and wax pastel. Once a mark goes down, I'm stuck with it and I work with it. I don't walk away or turn the page over.
But the simple use of a gum eraser, just gave me the strangest excitement. It felt I forgot all about the silly thing until today.
When I get pictures of my new stuff, I'll post it to share.

Shipping & Handling
DATE: 01/29/2008 09:20:12 / MOOD: other
I've notice a lot of artist auction off their art work & reproductions on ebay. I think it's a great idea and I can't wait to get my security key to acution off some of my art.
But their is this slight problem I keep pondering over. How do I decide what to charge for shipping and handling for each work. Does ebay decide( like they do with half.com) or does the artist decide? It will be a least a week before I recieve my security key to get started(I wish I would have done it earlier), but I just can't get over this tiny hurdle for some reasons.
Would anyone here have an idea how the system works?

Quitet Evening

So what does an artist do when he is supposed to recieve a couple phone calls? What is that artist supposed to do when does promises aren't met. I was supposed to recieve calls today from an upscale resturant and my dentist, regarding my artwork.
Normally I would be pissed about the situation. I don't like to wait around for nothing, when I could be doing other things. I didn't go out and venture today. I just stayed home read and finished another 14x17 picture.
Working in the food service industry, I had to move reletively fast and be ongoing. I feel like I'm at a slow point here and I haven't even gotten on a good start yet. Things seem to be moving slowly. I want to go fast, fast, fast, but everything around me seems to be moving slowly.
Now I'm thinking where else can I send out a packet;what else can I update beside my website; who else can I talk to about advice;ect.,ect.
Granted I have another group exhibition in March & submitting two pieces for another in Feb., & I'm a guest speaker for an art league in Dublin,Ohio, but I feel things are still moving too slow for me.
Am I overlooking a few things here?
Can anyone help?

Small work experiment
DATE: 01/25/2008 16:59:13 / MOOD: don't know
For the past two years, I've been working with wax pastel and 30x44 inch paper. I've really enjoyed the experience working large and bold. Since I have to wait for my next order, I decided to work with a 14x17 inch paper. It's some for of Paris 234 paper, designed mostly for inks and washes. The interaction w/ the wax pastel, is a little more slick, compared to a printmaking paper I normally use. A lot of my pastels were too big to get into a lot detail of the smaller drawing.
To put this all in a nutshell, it's pretty strange and dissapointing to work so small. But instead of putting the rest of the paper away, I decide to work with a little bit more. Perhaps buy a few smaller wax pastels to accomadate the transition. Just have to try it out.

New work by L'Andrae' Bradley
DATE: 01/18/2008 13:15:54 / MOOD: don't know
Okay,
I just added five of my newest wax pastel pieces on my site. I really havn't heard much response about them yet, but I feel pretty excited about them. For me, it's a new evolution phase for the medium I use. Instead of the randomness and doodle like approach I normally do, I've preplanned the images from old scketches and doodles. Some of the doodles I've referred back to are about ten years old.
Yeah, I have lot various forms of scrap paper and sketch books laying around room(which I have hard time keeping clean). Playing around with them and combining a few makes my pictures even more mysterious than before,it seems.
Example of one of the images I've uploaded on my site is titled "Number 6-The Meditation". What is this thing? Is it a part of me? I'm not really sure, but I felt I had to transform it from an experimental sketch to a 30x44 in. work of art. In some ways the incompleteness enhances the mystery of something behind the colors and black lines. When ever I look at this piece I feel a curiosity and a fear of what actually lies behind.
I don't know about other artists, but sometimes the art I creates puts a little fear in me. The Meditation. A face-to-face between the creator and that what is created. It seems to spark my existence with wonder and curiosity to go deeper than ever.
I have. When I created "Brazen#8-The Meditation"(2006) I felt the same way. It felt like I knew my art was going to go through another evolution. That same happen when I did a litho-print(1998), I called it "The Meditation". The unexplained before my eyes, a sign telling me the a change is on the horizon. Okay, I have to stop myself here! I'm now starting to sound more like a mystic instead of an artist.
As an artist, I feel it's my job to carry on with my work and welcome any changes that come along. Just like before.

Hello everyone!
My name is L'Andrae' Bradley and I just got my own space up and running! I'm basically testing waters here, because I currently have a site sponsered by Projekt30.com. If I like this enough, I might give 30 the 'ol boot! If anyone would like to view more of work(I have a lot), my site is: http://landraebradley.30art.com.
Another reason I'm here is to get more into blogging and having other artists critique my artwork. I don't have that ability with the site I'm actually paying for.
Anyways, nice to meet everyone here!!
