Anxiously awaiting..
DATE: 01/28/2008 05:37:54 / MOOD: full of life

This week I submit work to a regional "works on paper" show, to a local art association winter show, I am submitting work to the Copley Society in Boston and have to hope they like my 4 jpg images enough that they want to see more of my work (I wont hear for about a month) and I am still waiting on a firm commitment for the dates of a small group gallery show (this March) and can't believe the gallery owner still has not gotten back to me on opening and closing show dates! So I sit here waiting, trying not to think about the things I have no control over, but as much as I try this is still one of the hardest things I have to do in this profession, waiting, then letting go knowing I have done all I could do and the rest is out of my hands!

Anyone have any words of wisdom, ways they do the "waiting" thing? For me I will continue to practice patience and hope I get some positive results along with the negative.

Resizing jpg's, I can do it now!
DATE: 01/19/2008 10:40:01 / MOOD: happy

I just purchased photoshop elements and learned how to take any of my jpg's and resize them to fit the 300 DPI, 4 x 6 required size for most show submissions (good bye to colored slide processing). If I would only be more agressive about reading the show info in the back of Art Calendar Magazine I would be putting my newest work out there but even that requires finding the right venue and the right show specs. I am curious as to how many of you out there are submitting to the shows listed in the magazine and what your results have been?

JPG's vs. Slides
DATE: 01/07/2008 06:10:07 / MOOD: happy

As the new year sets in, and I plan my juried show submissions, I have decided to no longer spend money paying a professional photographer to make color slides of my work but rather will learn how to resize my digitial images to suit the standard 300 dpi request most organizations seem to accept and insist on. Does anyone have a preference? Has the art world officially accepted digital images as the best way to view art? Are colored slides now considered antiquated? Please share all and any thoughts!
