I was born and raised outside of Chicago. In 2007, I received my BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design as a Painting Major and Art History Minor.

My work exhibits two themes: The first includes still-lifes which extol the beauty of mundane objects. The second theme involves self-portraits that address various narratives. Some of these narratives are highly personal while others resonate on a universal level.“Problem Solved” is my most recent series and its content is often misinterpreted. The work, actually addresses my discomfort and disassociation with black culture, and should not be seen as a civil rights message.

I am most drawn to symbolism, allegory, narrative and visual realism. I paint constantly, usually 35-45 hours a week. When I am not working, I enjoy reading and vacationing.

Savannah is a great art school and you represent it well. It is terrific to see a serious artist doing work in the traditional realist title. You are young and entering the art world at the right time in history.  Brava !

Thanks for answering my question. I'm intrigued by your process. You mentioned an underpainting and glazing, which is a technique I frequently employ when painting in oils. I use acrylics for the underpainting and then glaze over in oils. How do you do this? Also, what types of oil paints do you prefer? I just started using Williamsburg oils and love them. However, I've been given a set of M. Graham oils that use walnut oil as a binder and for the painting medium. I haven't tried them yet and am wondering what type of drying agent I should use with them. Do you have any experience in that area? Thanks. - Kathy

No, I haven't studied print making.  I have never studied art or taken art clases in my life. I have always loved to draw. I guess my pen and inks do look a little like printmaking. I love your work. I can't wait to see more.
