One of my favorite children books was Jonathan Livingston Seagull, an adventurous spiritual journey. To me that’s painting! Painting offers me that journey, a chance to depart from the real world and let my imagination run free. To me, it feels like mediation in motion. It asks me to suspend judgment, encourages me to see what emerges, to listen to my gut instincts, and to find beauty in everyday moments.Prior to picking up a brush, I mediate in order to have a silent dialogue between my unconsciousness and consciousness. This dialogue directs my artistic decisions. I love to use different light angles. This challenges me to make the lighting work and flow easily. Once this happens to me, the painting seems to take on its one life.

Thanks for the comment on "Afterwards".  Initially I was going to  ask viewers for suggested titles. I see your two snowmen are  a departure from you other work. I have been doing winter scenes the last few days myself.

Lynn, Glad you enjoyed "Christmas Wishes". Thanks for the comment. I see you're getting into the Christmas Mood, as well. I really like both of your snowmen pieces above. "Happiness" put a smile on my face. -Don

Fall Leaves is wonderful.  Is it a painting?  I walked around the neighborhood on Friday; I returned with a bouquet of leaves very similar to this and thought how beautiful.  They blew off the back deck and joined the other million leaves in the back yard; I'm glad you hung onto yours--nice work. ........Hallie

Thank you for stopping by my gallery and leaving me a couple of comments. I do sell prints through the online store on my website, although I'm in the process of reworking my shop.

And your paintings are lovely--I'm just about to go take a closer look at them.

I hope your week has been off to a fantastic start,

 Megan
