| BOOKS |
I love reading books about animation history and biographical books. I am currently reading "Long Way Round" by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman who rode their motorcycles around the world. Oh, and Harry Potter Rules of course.
I also subscribe to Wildlife Art magazine, International Artist and of course Art Calendar. |

| ABOUT ME |
As of March 13, 2008 I left the paying job and I am now a full time artist. I love being able to paint for a living and while I know it's about 50/50 between painting & marketing, I still find it difficult to juggle both at times. It makes me wonder how I did all this while I was still working even though that wasn't too long ago. I have decided that when I make it big, my first priorities are to hire Molly Maid and get an assistant.
I am based in Barrie, Ontario, Canada and prefer to sell my art at festivals and shows so I can meet the people who are interested in my art and get lots of feedback. They also let me know what animals they are looking for and I get a feel for what animals aren't working out as well. I personally feel that I can't get the type of feedback and knowledge about my demographic that I do if I were to just hang in a gallery and walk away. I also like to know who my paintings are going to so I know they will have a good home.
For the most part I am a silly person who gets to make a living painting animals. That's pretty cool. |
| TURN ON'S |
I have recently started a group within my community of people who are in artistic fields full time or part time. We gather once a month to exchange ideas and help each other become more successful. I really enjoy meeting new people who are on the path to artistic independence and it is really inspiring to hear everyone's stories. |
| TURN OFF'S |
People who think my art is only for kids rooms and not so much for adult viewing. I have still not sold a piece that was bought for a child. I prefer to have my art described as "art for the whimsical adult".
Art snobbery is a big turn off too. |
| HOBBIES |
Going to zoos and other places with animals. I'm in need of a large scale aquarium to visit.
Spending time with my husband, dachshunds and cat.
Classic animation (Warner Brothers, Tom & Jerry and such).
Shopping for silly clothes like matching bunny mittens and hat. |
