MY RATING: 0.00
Folk, Blues, Jazz, classical: These are my favorite genres! There are too many artists to count.

I read mostly non-fiction; art criticism, current affairs, sociology, psychology and philosophy.

Books that I am currently reading:

French Women Don't get Fat, In Defense of Food (Michael Pollan), The Pact (Jodie Piccoult, the one fictional text that I am reading)

In terms of movies, I don't see as many as I used to, as I sold my television set months ago and where I currently reside there is no cable. (Thank the heavens!) When I do watch movies I prefer independent films that are either dramatic, romantic, comedic or a combination of both!

I attended university in northern New York at the State University of New York, College at Potsdam, where I earned my BA in psychology as well as my BFA in painting. I currently reside in Burlington, Vermont where I work for Barnes and Noble as a bookseller. I recently applied to MFA programs in the northeast region and am awaiting results. It is an exciting prospect, considering my future! As I make the transformation from emerging artist into professional status I hope to teach at the collegiate level in addition to pursuing my PhD in contemporary art history.

hard work, running, positivity, romance, silly behavior, the wilderness, healthy food, those who are environmentally conscious,

In terms of art, I enjoy colorful paintings that exhibit varied brushwork. (preferably portraits). I also enjoy high contrast in all forms of art (2dimensionally speaking). It is necessary in most cases to metaphorically punch your viewer! Working on a larger scale is one of the biggest turn-ons of them all!

laziness, antagonistic individuals, those who are self-righteous, holding grudges, the fast food industry, selfishness, arrogance

I am not much of a landscape artist or a proponent of a lot of abstract works like Rothko and other of the like. Beyond the potentially interesting color schemes, there is nothing else to hold my attention. This is not to say I cannot appreciate an Artist's intension but rather to suggest my approval of more traditional art. One thing I disdain is cliche subject matter, which usually entails flowers and landscapes. I know that these are wonderful occurences in nature and can be beautifully rendered through paint; I am just hoping for a little more from my fellow artists! (Please do not percieve me as a hard-*ss, it is just a matter of oppinion.A lot of which I write is a result from my education.) :)

My biggest hobby is running. I have been running since I was thirteen years old and recently decided to run everyday for the rest of my life. I keep a blog: www.dailyrunner83.blogspot.com.

Hi again, ( I have been busy taking care of my mother so I wasn't able to write back) - I can understand how you would love portraiture more-would you agree that there is more of a connection with fellow humans?  Or, is it a spiritual thing that takes place between us that is undeniable?  When we can connect on another realm?  I often wonder why and what it is that I love portraits as well.  Just wondered about your comments-     me

Great work!  I especially like your use of contrast, and the way you layer your color.  Can't wait to see more!

You give "Expressionism" a whole new name!   Love your work-brilliant.  I must challenge you on your "Flowers and Landscapes" being cliche subject matter-  Georgia O' Keefe, along with other famous artists,  would be rolling in their graves if they heard you.  They used the simple to express their art in a brilliant way and on another level or realm.  Very nice work- I hope you are in a gallery.            &nb sp; Deb
