I love a wide variety of music, but I most often listen to classical: Debussy, Beethoven, Mozart, any Strauss, and opera. I love THE TALES OF HOFFMAN, THE MAGIC FLUTE, and LA BOHEME.

JANE EYRE is the best book I have ever read. I love the classics and mysteries and children's books.

My current favorite is MAMA MIA. A movie I could watch over and over again would be MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET.

I have a BFA degree from Georgia State University with a concentration in illustration. My illustration professor there was Alan Tiegreen, who illustrated Beverly Cleary's Ramona books. Those were some of my favorites, so having him for a teacher was a real treat! I work in cut-paper. Cutting and pasting has always been something I enjoyed. My artwork has mostly been of animals, but I have plans for other subjects. I plan to pursue a Master's degree next year.

I love to read!

Hi Kathryn, Thank you for your nice comment on my clouds of Bryce Canyon.  I had never done clouds before that one, so it took quite a while to perfect them.

I enjoyed your gallery.  I find your art to be very interesting.  I'm a big cat fan so I totally relate to your cat works.  I like that your Fox is very colorful.  While bringing up my children, for years I did graphite illustration  on paper, because it seemed like the easiest medium in my hectic lifetitle.  After they grew, I joined the world of color, and what a totally different world it is.  It certainly is more challenging and totally worth it.  I love color! Using it, and enjoying it in other artists work, as well.

Keep up the good work.

Jan

So nice to meet you and thank you for comments on my painting Putting By. I think the whole concept of putting by transports us to another time! I love your illustration work as well. So beautifully colored and detailed. I have done some illustration work, but not for several years.

I actually grew up in the Keene area and returned to go to school there after my children were grown. Did you know that Keene State College has a fantastic Museum of children's book Illustration?  They hold a Children's literature festival every Fall in which they invite successful illustrators and authors to speak. It is wonderful!

I look forward to getting to know you and your work.

Thanks for your comments on my painting "Wild Blue".  Actually--I use a lot of water with acrylic paint and apply many layers of different shades until I'm happy with it.  This painting is coated with resin as are most of my works.

Thanks so much for the comment on "Fields at Noon";  I wanted to capture a freshness about it that I feel when I am out in the open.  I usually use reference photos somewhat on my paintings...this was one of those were I didnt...just a few color studies and some imangination!

Thanks again,

Davebo

Kathryn, I am glad that you have joined the art critique group. It will be good to hear your opinion as an art illustrator.

Kathryn,

I love your work and I love children's books, too (taught 1st and 2nd grade for 41 years)  I can envision your work as illustrations in a children's book.
