I was born in Kirkland, Washington and inherited my love of art from my grandmother, an artist and poet who died two months before I was born.

After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, I wrote, designed and tested software for various companies in California and Washington before leaving engineering to pursue my true love - creating art.

I began experimenting with an air brush in 1995. I tried colored pencils, watercolors and also painted with acrylics before settling on oils as my favorite medium.

Beautiful work! "Pike PLace Fruit" is very complex and stands out as one of your best. And your colored pencil work is very well done. I love the rich colors. Thanks for sharing your art.

Hi John,

Thanks for such a nice compliment on my work. I can "feel" the Northwest in your wonderful art. Your detail and lighting is so well executed! Bravo to you. I hope you get a chance to visit the beautiful Pacific Northwest now-and-again!

Thank you for the comment on my Out of the Shadows.

I took a look at your gallery and your website. Very nice work, especially the “First Sign of Spring” and “Red Rose on Black,” though I must say my favorite is “72 Degrees” from your website. Lovely use of complementary color, variety of textures, and use of light/value to create form. Really beautiful  reflections on metal and distortions through the glass… brilliant.

It's no problem I enjoyed looking at your art. My lion is almost done now, I'll let you know when I post her back up.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful art work!

Thanks for the comment about the light in my work.  I find the more I make art, the more I am aware of it and try to incorporate it in my work.  I looked at your gallery and enjoyed looking at it  your work very much.

Great website John and wonderful work!  Thank you for the comment on my Wenatchee River.  I've never been there.  The photo was provided by another artist on wetcanvas.com who lives in that area.

Hi! I just viisited your website. What a wonderful body of work. I love the lonely cow series and the symphony in sea major is irresistible. And all the detail in the Pike Place pieces. Wow. You obviously have great skills, but beyond that you have unique vision.
