Buying a flash

First, your friend needs to determine what type of flash photography they want to do.  Is your friend going to shot flowers, people a combination of subjects, do they do more close up work, or do they need a flash that will reach across a crowded room?  Ask your friend to answer these questions, and then start looking for a flash that will work with the primary type of photography they intend to do.  Your friend can spend a little or allot depending on what type of photography they do.
 Regards,
Steve B.
