I would like to ask all of you how to create more activity here in this group? What topics would be of interest to you? If you don't feel like posting you can email me with topics. I would like to create a cool place to find out about other artist's--how you work--why and so forth.
Maybe some of you can ask a question a week! Think about what is interesting to you. If it is, then chances are, it is interesting to some of us as well.
I will post a question this week too--in my next post. Jump right in, everyone!

Hi everyone, about creating more activity in the group, how about choosing a theme or technique of the month (or week) and then sharing our creations in the forum, exchanging tips and techniques? This could be a very dynamic way of learning from each other and exercise our creative muscles. I don't know, what do you think?
That is a fantastic idea! Love it. I say lets do it. Everyone, what do you think? Artist projects weekly or monthly with a theme?
Maybe we could work in a medium we don't normally for one of the exercises...Like sculptors could paint something, oil painters could use clay--that sounds fun.

I started the marketing group and it also grew and grew and then it's hard to keep it going. I wonder how common that is? Many people come to read. The 'door to door' selling conversation has mostly just been 2 of us - which is a nice conversation except I think we're all looking for a group energy. In many ways we each find our own path (unlike, say - physicians or attorneys) who sell a more similar product than us painters.
But marketing is marketing - regardless of the product - if you're making a living that is. We're in the model in which each product is sold several times (i.e.imagine a film - screenwriter sells developer who sells a producer who sells an executive producer who sells investors. Then there's the sale to the actors to come on board, etc. and finally the sale to the distribution company who eventually sells the final audience. WOW We've got it easy!!). Fortunately as artists most of us need only one middle man if that. We can be pretty close to the customer in spite of having to sell an audience on our je ne se qua.
So one would think many would jump into these art conversations - after all it's not that complex. We all get cold feet at times - about painting or selling or whatever. So of course the purpose here is teaching one another how to keep our feet warm in spite of our fears.
I love this fearless artist group and I love being fearless (even if I have my moments!). Perhaps we'll find the energy toward these groups is cyclical and it will pick up again.Maybe some viewers who are just browsing will come back in the future with ideas to spark some new conversations.
Hello everyone, i like the idea of having a theme and everyone creating an art piece in that theme. However i also think that a piece a month would be better than a piece a week. I know i probably wouldn't be able to have the time to do one weekly, but the idea is great i like it.
Oh i'm new to this group, just accepted an invite tonight. I was looking through the group gallery and noticed there are not many pieces in it but there are ninty something members. Is there something you have to do in order to get your art in the group gallery? I'm not sure i understand what the difference is between that one and our own galleries.
No difference in the galleries. Just the fact that you can peruse everyone in this groups work all at once... Feel free to upload your own. Everyone is invited to do so. Thanks for posting!!

The problem is simple. There is a very small group of active members in the artscuttlebutt community. Although there are "thousands" registered, most are not active. If you search the members in general, most have signed up, and then never logged back on. When you look at visitors, poll responses, and any other activity, it is always the same small handful of people.
The only way to get more activity in the group is to get more people involved. You need to get your art frineds to participate in artscuttlebutt. You won't get the current "fearless artists" members to participate more. If someone is interested in a more active group, they need to focus on getting more active members.
It isn't topics, or questions of the week. The site in general needs active members.
It is in your hands. The key is promotion. Your frustration is in the size of the group, not the activity. You want to get more activity in "fearless artists", promote outside of artscuttlebutt, and get people to join.
