I work in spurts and waves. I might do a flurry of a half dozen paintings, then not touch paint for a couple months. I think it is a function of being too busy with life. Or maybe I just work it all out, and then have to let the creative energy build up. When I do paint, I usually work on 3 or 4 paintings at once. I finish those and then stop for another period of time, sometimes weeks, somethimes months.
How do you guys work? Contiunously and every day? Focus on a painting at a time. Or do you have several going all the time.
I work with different mediums and I try to work at least half an hour a day. When I do work When I do work I look at all the pieces I am working on. sometimes I even start new pieces. Sometimes I don't get to sleep because I get to focused on a certain painting and I can't stop until I am finished.
I try to paint everyday, at least 5 days a week. I usually work on at least 2 paintings at a time. I have so many paintings in my head I just don't have enough time. Painting truly is my passion.
I paint one painting at a time. However, I am constantly designing for the next painting(s). That way when I finish one I can start on the next.
At my day job I am creating graphics and animations all day. So, I have creative juices flowing constantly. Late in the evening after the family goes to bed I retire to my "artroom", turn on some music and start painting. This year I've averaged finishing about 1 painting every week-and-a -half which is the most productive I've been in years.
When it comes to painting I have two constraints which determine my workflow - time and space. I think I've found the formula that works best for me... -Don
I try to paint everyday, however, I usually have very productive periods during which I'll finish two painting in one day (or night) and then I get "stuck" and have to wait usually around a week for inspiration to show up again, but I try to do something, at least drawing or scribbling, everyday (if life permits it).
